As a queer Sikh, I always find myself having to justify my existence. I honestly shouldn't have to. Our religion is known for not being homophobic or transphobic, yet so many people in our panth are indeed transphobic and homophobic. They will never know how it feels to constantly beg Waheguru to make you like everyone else so that your parents won't hate you for the rest of your life. They will never know the feeling of being alone because all of the people your age at the gurdwara think you're weird. Homophobia and transphobia have made some members of the panth feel like they are all alone and it needs to stop. I just hope that one day, kids like me won't have to go through what I had to go through.

I realized the reason that I am kind is because loving my gf made me realize that the world is beautiful. When I realized that, I truly started to believe that God is perfect because how could a being that made her be anything less than that?
