“I went to bed that night in a kind of daze, slept as if I had been drugged and in the morning awoke to a new world- a world of excitement- a world in which everything was fierce and piercing, everything charged with strange emotions, clothed with extraordinary mysteries, and in which I myself seemed to exist only as an inner core of palpitating fire.” : This book is probably most famous nowadays for being André Aicman’s inspiration for “Call Me By Your Name” (specifically, that’s where the character of Oliver gets his name). I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this book. It’s not a bad book by any stretch but I wish it was a little bit longer and I’d got to spend more time in the story. The parts where Olivia ruminates on how new love has made her a more engaged student resonates with me (very dark academia). Overall, a solidly pleasant afternoon read (and I mean one afternoon because it’s only 100 pages long). : QOTD: What are some of your favorite reads under 200 pages? : #shortreads #Olivia #dorothybussy #dorothystrachey #queerclassics #academiaaesthetic #academia #darkacademia #classicliterature #literary #literarycommunity #bookstagram #lightacademia #readersofinstagram #writersofinstagram #🥀 #blackwritersofinstagram #teachergoth #weirdblackgirl #protectweirdblackgirlsatallcost #deadauthors #romanticacademia #arthoe #biblophile #futureenglishteacher #futurebestsellingauthor #bookinfluencer #andréaicman #callmebyyourname (at Rosehill Cemetery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFUoODrleux/?igshid=1c3off01lrqxw
