Reposted from @spunnomadittyco Me and Chastity from @dyehardyarns_op have created a weekly Queer Stitch Group and it is very special to me because I've never been accepted in many queer spaces, I never felt comfortable or safe! Most of the queer spaces are filled with white cis people that either have been blatantly racist, sugar coated their racism and/or looked the other way when it happens. Those "safe" spaces were not made for me and they absolutely excluded whatever was below their standards of queerness, you had to fit in their narrow box to "fit" in. That's why when Chastity suggested the notion of creating a space for us I jumped on it, I want to be surrounded by those who don't fit in and those who appreciate the people that lifted them up! I want a space where people can feel like they are at home, a space where people won't be judged by what makes them special! That's what we want to create an actual safe space for queers!
