Am I the only one that doesn't like the word partner?
I feel like for me, it's so long-term commitment, and monogamous. And I don't like the words boyfriend/girlfriend because not all of the people I am dating or interested in identify as a boy or girl. I heard from a friend who introduced their significant person as "queerfriend" and I really like that, especially because I feel like the people I am interested are those who have a more queer understanding of gender and sexuality as fluid and non limiting. Or maybe to challenge identity politics and the need to move away from the mainstream altogether, I will just refer to them as the person I am dating.
