Hey! My friend and roommate, Jules, was accepted to the LLF LGBT Emerging Writer's Retreat, but needs to raise money to go. Consider helping him out with a donation campaign! Also, reblog if you know anyone who might want to help.

Hey there! I'm Julian, a transgender artist from California. I grew up in Orange County, went to school in Oakland, and currently live in Philadelphia, PA. I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. Poetry was my outlet as a kid, fiction helped me through my teen years, and now as a young adult I use experimental memoir to share my experiences as a queer transgender Jew with lots (and lots) of feelings.
I applied for the LLF writers retreat on a whim, never expecting to be accepted. But when the letter came saying I'd not only been accepted to Cris Beam's non-fiction workshop, but that I'd also received a half scholarship of $825, I was blown away. My whim suddenly became a need. I crave the chance to join a community of queer writers. Even more so, I crave the time to seriously work on my writing before starting grad school at San Francisco State University this August.
There are a few obstacles between this writers retreat and I. Firstly, tuition. Although I was given an $825 scholarship, this still only covers half the total cost. Secondly, transportation. I'm moving back to Oakland this summer, but to get between Oakland and LA costs about $175 (assuming I can buy these tickets sooner rather than later). So that's an even $1000."
