yeah! i feel like people have quite a bit of power over their own lives, simply in terms of mindset. whether you consider this magic is up to interpretation. i feel like people are (almost!) completely control over their perceived lives.like, say someone dies. your life can go to shit because you miss them, or you can feel comforted by the fact that you personally believe they’re in a better place, or that they’re happier now. thoughts can’t bring the person back, but thoughts can pretty much shape your life, or at least how you view it. thoughts are very powerful, and it can seem almost magical to use thoughts to your advantage and make life fuller and more fulfilling.and the execration i mentioned, i think that that type of visualization is almost similar to affirmations. like, i don’t know the scientific background of affirmations, but it’s something scientific considering i learned about affirmations in all my therapy programs, and felt a lot better when i used them. telling yourself something over and over again eventually changes your mindset. magic? up to you!also, the placebo effect could be considered magic. it shows how thoughts alone can determine how you perceive pain, etc. it probably won’t cure you of cancer or anything, and i shake my head at people that are like “your disease is in your head!!!” but mindset does work in some cases and that’s awesome. certain meditations can help get rid of my period cramps. i don’t know how it works, but it does. magic? again, up to you!then there’s a thing called “false pregnancy”. very rare, but sometimes a person will believe that they’re pregnant, and then start experiencing pregnancy symptoms, getting a bigger stomach, and then having false labor pains. thoughts are extremely powerful.is it magical, or psychological? i don’t think it matters. the shit works. that’s all that matters imo.
