You know what could've been a truly fucked up twist of fate? If the Quen's Ceo really was a genetic descendant of Ted Faro. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ted ordered some of his genetic material stored in each of the Cradle facilities to ensure his lineage went on
It just hit me: is Quen's tribe name a Vietnamese word, quên? Pronunciation is pretty much the same, considering the geography ("the Great Delta" can possibly be Mekong River/Delta), quên is a nice touch on the tribe's handling of history in HFW (mild main story spoilers below, specifically Thebes questline)
Ceo & the Board of Overseers "bend" history for their selfish personal gains: making Ted Faro a savior and turning Elizabet Sobeck into his assistant. In Vietnamese, quên means to forget, get it yet? The entire tribe "forget" about the real story. This is such poetic irony. idk if other tribes names (Carja, Nora, Utaru...) are based on other languages or this is a coincidence, but this is a cool little headcanon I have as Vietnamese. Yes, I do pray to my ancestors for good luck and wisdom 😂 (just like the Quen worship theirs, we also have crab hotpots oooof those are so good).
Note: I'm aware quen is another Vietnamese word, but it means familiar/acquainted and I'm not sure how to place it? The Quen being familiar/acquainted with Zero Dawn but don't really know the truth behind it? imo quên fits better. This maybe far-fetch but: Vietnamese call the Mekong Delta region as Plains/Delta of the Nine Dragons (Đồng Bằng Sông Cửu Long) and *looking at Leviathan Flood Control Network as possibly another 🐉 reference*
HFW is right about one thing, the Great Delta is, great. It's kinda cool hearing AAA games referring to monsoon (though not cool to live through it as everything gets washed away every year)
