Quentin
Lucy's best friend from elementary school to the middle of high school was a boy named Quentin Elliot. He, like Lucy, didn't like the self-indulgent attitudes of their peers. They were some of the rare children who wasn't drawn in by the conceited atmosphere they grew up in.
Even when girls and boys didn't mingle, Lucy and Quentin were best friends. They didn't go to each other's houses, but spent nearly every other second together. Their parents had been discussing arranging a marriage between them, to strengthen their business alliance. (Neither Lucy nor Quentin knew about this; Lucy still doesn't.)
When Lucy was raped, she stopped talking to Quentin. He tried desperately to talk to her, but she ran every time he tried. Eventually he stopped.
He's planning on becoming a politician to enact change, especially in the upper classes where he came from.
I don't know if he'll factor into the story, but he was a big part of Lucy's childhood. He's probably the biggest reason she didn't go insane.
