Saw someone sent you a song in their native. Here’s one of my favorites! It is simple, but the music is beautiful (and slightly haunting). You can easily find it on youtube. It’s a classic. ”Vem kan segla”

Vem kan segla förutan vind?

Vem kan ro utan åror?

Vem kan skiljas från vännen sin, utan att fälla tårar?

Jag kan segla förutan vind.

Jag kan ro utan åror.

Men ej skiljas från vännen min, utan att fälla tårar…

(Who can sail without wind?

Who can row a boat without oars?

Who can be seperated from their ”friend” / ”someone you love” without crying?

I can sail without wind!

I can row without oars!

But I can not be seperated from my ”friend” / ”loved person” without letting tears fall…)

Ahoy, dear lighthouse keeper.

I just wanted to write to you to say that your log has inspired me to start writing my own once I have new posting aboard a ship. I'm eager to be out on the water again. Hopefully it'll be fairly soon, as I've been stuck on dry land for longer than I'm comfortable with.

I honestly can't wait to share my own nautical (mis)adventures with the folks here.

Have a good watch at the station,and may the seas and stars guide you.

seems like you had a pretty... interesting life at sea before being a lightkeeper! do you ever miss it?

Oh yes, all the time. I am happy at my job, however, only being able to come home the nights of a full moon does keep a sense of longing in my soul.
