aaaaaaahhh eddie's family! we meet his parents! love how he's sticking up for shannon (she WAS brave!) and is then just blindsided that they want to take him and christopher back to texas. it would literally be throwing the last year of his life away! he's still a probationary firefighter and he's almost earned his shield! he does have a life here! a family here! in more than one way! tia pepa and abuela being in his corner is so good!!!

now here's the rub about S8b currently airing as I am watching this the first time around - "it's only been a year he can't have put that many roots down" and 'being with me [Eddie/his father] is what's best for him' ..... feeling like both of those things will come back around thematically.

Also love eddie stating plainly "i chose this life for a reason" (does he mean being a firefighter and/or being a firefighter in LA?) here's hoping THAT comes back, because its thematically/character motivation interesting, and in-line with the "begins" stuff the show does. (and i think the show-long question of eddie's identity, the pull between firefighter and father.) and then eddie's dad (pop? did he call him pop?) saying "you can choose a different one."
