Charli, my sister - I love being with Charli because she tries to be a lot nicer to me these days. We used to spend so much time arguing that I never really appreciated how lucky I am to have a sister. Let alone one who’s so close to my age that I can have a laugh and joke with about things. She also lets me go out with her and her friends sometimes. None of her friends ever really bother with their siblings, so it makes me feel quite happy that Charli does. Also, on my 18th birthday, she absolutely spoiled me. I know it sounds materialistic, but she really put a lot of thought and money into the presents she bought me. She was in Zante, on holiday, on the actual day of my birthday, though, so I didn’t think I’d get anything from her until she got home - she waited until she was home to give me the presents - so I was really surprised when I got to the pub I was going to for my meal and saw some flowers on the from her. She’d arranged to have my mum pick them up and take them to the pub for me, I was actually so happy. It cheered me up a lot as well because until that point I was thinking she just wouldn’t bother with me at all until she came home.
Tom, Charli’s boyfriend - I know a lot of people don’t really have much to do with their sibling’s partners, but I’m really glad I do. Tom is absolutely lovely, and he’s so nice to me. His family run a local motocross club and he took me to marshall for them a few times, because it’s a bit of money for me. He also came over just after my birthday, to give me my birthday present, despite him and Charli going through a few problems at the time. Also, he’s really nerdy, so he and I have long discussions about lots of things. (His favourite thing is ‘Lord Of The Rings’ and he even owns ‘The Hobbit’ Monopoly). All my family absolutely love him. We’re all completely convinced that my Granny actually prefers him to all her Grandchildren. He is also really good at getting Charli to shut up when she’s mean, but he really makes her happy so it’s all good!
Abi - Abi and I have known each-other for over 10 years and she’s one of the only people in my life who really, truly understands what I’ve been through. We know each-other so well, and we’ve both been to very bad places, which we’re both getting through now, but it’s always really nice to be able to turn to each-other on bad days, because there isn’t any judgement. There’s just understanding, something which is so rare these days. We’ve gone through some rough patches together and sometimes there have been times where we’ve fallen out, but I know no matter what arguments we may have, we can always turn to each-other for support, because it’s that type of friendship. It’s not only heavy stuff we talk through, though, we’re both in a lot of the same ‘fandoms’ so we spend a lot of time laughing and joking about books, films + TV shows that we’re currently interested in, and we always suggest other ones to each-other.
Charlotte - I’ve only known Charlotte since we met through college, in last November, but we immediately clicked. Our college group was quite small so we were all pretty close, and I also got to know her boyfriend, who was also at the college. Charlotte and I are forever discussing books and she says that I got her back into reading, which I’m pretty proud of. She’s really kind and not bitchy at all, which is really nice. We used to spend our lunchtimes, at college, going around town looking in cheap bookshops and relaxing in a local cafe. I was really worried when college ended, in June, that we wouldn’t see each-other any more. We’ve actually seen each-other quite a few times since then, something which I’m really grateful for, as I find it difficult to make friends, so it’s nice to keep in touch with the ones that I do make.
Ryan, Charlotte’s boyfriend - Like Charlotte, I only met Ryan in last November. We got on quite well straight away, though I always worried that I annoyed him, because he was quite quiet to start with, but we warmed to each-other and the three of us spent a lot of time together at college. He’s really funny and kind, and I get on really well with him, which is nice.
Reece - Reece and I met around 3 years ago, and I am so happy that we did, because he’s a genuinely nice person. We know each-other really well and I never feel like he treats me like I’m crazy. Last summer, we had a huge argument and didn’t speak for quite a few months, because his girlfriend at the time didn’t like me. When he broke up with her, he tried speaking to me again, but I was rude to him and made it clear I didn’t want anything to do with him for a while, despite missing him like mad, because some of what had been said in the argument really hurt my feelings. I eventually got speaking to him again and we met up in January. We both agreed to put the argument behind us, because we both said a lot of harsh things. So, now, we’re really close again and we see each-other every once in a while and though we still make jokes about everything that was said in the argument, we’re comfortable enough with each-other that it’s funny rather than hurtful.
Ryan - I first met Ryan around 7 years ago. We were always quite close and despite the fact that we’d go long periods of time without talking, we remained close. Even when I moved miles away, we kept in touch. A few years ago, we both had feelings for each-other, though he thought it was only him with the feelings and only recently found out that I actually felt the same. In the last few months, we’ve grown a lot closer again and talk a lot. I really hope, if nothing else, we stay as close as we are now.
Zenith:What makes you feel good about yourself?
Wearing make-up - I love wearing make-up and it makes me feel good because I can use it to accentuate my favourite feature, my eyes. Whilst simultaneously covering the fact that I have really bad dark circles under my eyes.
Selfies - Because it feels good to be able to take a look at a picture of yourself and say, hey I look pretty today.
Books/Films/TV Shows - Because sometimes I just need to get lost in a fictional world, when the real world is too hectic.
Money - As materialistic as it sounds, having money makes me happy, because not only do I like to buy myself things, I feel good when I can buy things for people I care about.
Spending time with people I care about - Because who doesn’t love to be around the people they love?.
