Raven looked at the woman up and down, trying to figure out a bit more about her. "She’s beautiful, though. And pretty cute." Raven though, trying to read through her face. There wasn’t much she could pull out anyway. "Too cute…" But anything was ‘too cute’ for Raven, maybe except for her dog. She smiled. "Hello." She eventually greeted.
Minkyung tied her hair up into a ponytail before slipping on the apron, having done with her errands and deliveries as she walks over to the counter. She did felt like someone was watching her but wasn't it a normal response to look who has entered through the door after hearing the loud thud. Hearing the greeting, Minkyung blinked unknowingly before turning to meet the other; smiling in response.
'Death' (( I had to--- If you don't do angst, you don't have to do this ;w; hehe ))
Death: My character’s reaction to your character dying.
MUN NOTE: I can do angst only that I couldn’t decide how your muse would die so I went with the most simplest and subtlest one. AU setting of course.
MUN NOTE #2: Under READ MORE cut because I got carried away.
MUN NOTE #3: I feel like I’ve went out of topic as I reread the whole thing.
"Minkyung-ah!"
Blinking her eyes unknowingly, she turned her head around towards the direction of the person who had called out her name. For she wasn’t expecting to see anyone, especially in a place like this; she was honestly surprised to see him as her frozen self gave him the chance to tackle her into a hug.
It took her awhile for her to realize that Yoongi wore the exact same hospital pyjamas that the rest of the patients wore. Minkyung had always visited the hospital from time to time just so she could deliver flowers and her paper creations to patients who had been staying long in the hospital. Her visits were mostly to the elderly and the children, trying to brighten their day up for a change. So it came such a big shock to her when he had his arms around her, hugging the life out of her before she responded to his hug.
Yoongi was always known to be a burst of life and energy towards Minkyung. His smile never seemed to fade even though he had explained to her that he was diagnosed with a serious illness till he had to live in the hospital for treatment.
"So that’s why you always say no whenever I text you to come hang out with me or something … You could have told me you were here, you know," she pouted before looking away from him.
He made an attempt to cheer her up which she responded with a reassuring smile, waving her hand dismissively. Minkyung could sense something was wrong with him no matter how wide his smile was because whenever she turned to see his face, he looked lonely, like his mind was somewhere far away.
“All I know is that my heartbeat can stop at any moment. The doctors explained that I have a weak heart and advised that I shouldn’t burden myself with unnecessary things. Even my mum died because of this sickness,” he explained out of the blue.
They were both up on the hospital’s roof, hearing that there would be a series of shooting stars from the news. Minkyung had helped him up there, slinging an arm over her shoulder as they climbed up the stairs. He was even more tired that night and Minkyung feared the worst as they left his room.
“The day before my mum died, she told me that when a person dies, their spirit becomes a star in the dark sky. At that time, I did not believe her and dismissed it as something petty,” he said weakly.
“While I was in the hospital, I saw a shooting star; I made a wish on it and I wished that I could see you again. When we met the other day after all this time, I was sure that my mum brought you to me,” he confessed.
“I … I don’t believe you. You’re lying, Yoongi!” No, she believed him; she was only too afraid to admit it.
“Yeah, yeah. I was joking. Smile a bit will ya?”
“No, I can’t. Not right now.”
Minkyung felt as if he was slowly disappearing even though he was literally next to her. Suddenly, she only saw darkness as had covered her eyes with his hand.
“Hey, I have something for you. Don’t cry Minkyung or it will fade away,” he sounded so weak, it scared her.
“I … I don’t want any gifts. Please …” she stuttered and her tears were finally falling.
“Please … Don’t … Don’t speak right now,” he pleaded as he covered my mouth with his hand.
“But Yoongi …”
“I feel so tired. Let me sleep for a while before it begins. While waiting, please just stay by my side. Don’t say anything … Just stay with me. Please.”
It was not soon before long the stars started to fall and Yoongi’s grip on her loosened; he laid on her lap and he looked so peaceful.
“Yoongi, wake up … The stars are falling … They’re falling for you so you have to wake up. Yoongi, you need to see this and smile. I’m already missing your smile. Smile, … for me … Please … Wake up,” she managed to say in between my sobs.
Yoongi was asleep but this time, he would not wake up anymore. There were a few words scribbled on his palm but she could not read it as it had faded due to her tears. Minkyung would never forget that moment under the shooting stars; the moment when the distance between Yoongi and her was so close yet so far forever.
"And yet I am still here," he replied with a bored tone of voice, wondering how the female even knew, who he was. His first suggestion was that the woman was confusing him with someone else, letting his head tilt to the side. "Say can it be that you are confusing me with someone else? In all honesty, which I can suck up from my bones, I don't know who you are or even less how the hell could you think I was gone forever." Sure he hadn't met her during his time in Han Xu, nor was she a past customer and thus there was only one more option - family relative, yet he didn't believe that either.
Blinking unknowingly, Minkyung let his words reach her ears. She didn't know what came over her, having no control of her body as it moved unconsciously; uttering words she never thought of saying. Now she was stuck yet again in another awkward situation she didn't mean to get into. Quickly, she bowed her head low, her hair falling over her face as she kept her head down.
"I'm sorry. It was my mistake. I'm sorry that I have bothered you, sir."
"What do you mean you have no idea? This is your company building. The place you work for so many years. You can't tell me we're lost."Minkyung had dropped by the entertainment building to drop off another set of orders. It was a large order as she was serving for not one group of people but two. One of her staff had followed her but only she was allowed access due to the company's strict rulles and regulations. Telling him it was fine and a promise she would bring back at least a signature by his bias, he left her alone.
She had bumped into her dear friend, happy to have met her in a long time due to their schedules. They began to talk endlessly, unconciously walking along the many hallways while they were deep in conversation. And here they are now in their little situation, having wandered too deep in the company walls. "Okay, let's keep calm ... It could've been worse," she commented.
Blink once. It was still raining. Blink twice. He was still standing in front of her, soaked from the rain water. Blink thrice. He repeated his words, this time with a step closer to her.
Minkyung thought that the rain was playing tricks on her; how it had accompanied her through out the years and she always did enjoyed its presence. For the first sign of rain cloud, she was already out of the door with her yellow umbrella that gave her shelter. And she didn’t know when, didn’t know how that the rain had brought another friend for their usual meetings.
His hair damped and stuck to his forehead, his blue dress shirt that she had admired him wearing clung onto him even more, droplets of water rolled down his nose; his lips wet as well. Minkyung couldn’t help but to stand frozen in place as she heard his request. She could feel her lips went dry even though they were both out in this kind of weather.
For what seemed like it came from a dream, the distance between them closed and their lips met. For so many nights she had dreamt this moment, half-thinking that she may be asleep. Nevertheless, she was smiling; smiling into the kiss that slowly melted her.
Eyes snapping open with realization of what he was doing, his arms slowly snaked away and to his sides. He knew anywhere else in the world, the women would have bloodied him up by now for being a drunk sleaze, despite his thoughts being anything but perverted. Well, typically speaking. He was a man still, and one with desires just as much as the next, though in the moment that was neither here nor there.
Most nights left him with varying degrees of restlessness, unease that only his premium alcohol collection could soothe. Of course, if he hadn’t fallen asleep first, venturing out of his home meant torturing the poor souls of Seoul. Tonight, it was the perfume his mother once wore which left him sentimental enough to cling onto any woman with even the vaguest similar fragrance. A general lack of shame filled his expression. He cleared his throat and finally answered her with a poor drunk lie.
"You looked like you need one."
Minkyung knew it was dangerous to be walking home alone at such a late hour. Even the safest places in the world are not genuinely safe. Her staff members had always offered a ride back home; occasionally she would accept but most of the time she would decline. It was because she didn't want to burden anyone but mostly because she wanted to be alone in the covers of the night.
But tonight was not one of her usual nights where she would be alone. Out of nowhere she felt a pair of arms around her torso and she could have sworn some part of her soul had escaped her body. The smell of alcohol invaded her nose and she herself thought she could be drunk just by smelling alone.
"Are you sure? Maybe it's you who needed a hug, sir."
Although the cafe was not the ideal shelter due to the amount of dwellers, the weather as well as the growing crowd left him no choice. Turning to face the corner with a hand tugging the collar of his jacket to cover his face, it almost seemed as though he wanted to squeeze himself into the wall. Just when he was about to glance over his shoulder and scan his surroundings, her voice crept up behind him and startled him. His hand dropped immediately and revealed his hanging jaw as he stared at her with wide eyes. He froze. “…” He then blinked several times to snap out of his daze. “Oh, right, thanks. How much is this?” Wrapping his lean digits around the cap carefully, his other hand fished for his wallet in the back pocket of his jeans.
His reaction was priceless; with his mouth gaped open slightly as if he had just seen a ghost. It made her laugh softly behind her hand as she waved her hand dismissively once the laughter had subsided.
"It's on me. Take it as a good luck drink for the start of your promotions. And also to act as a reminder that you shouldn't overwork yourself," she explained, beaming a small smile.
"And no buts or whatever reason, persuasion you want to throw at me. A gift is a gift Wu Fan," she puffed up her cheeks slightly in her attempt to give him a stern look.
A small raise of his brow as he heard a female’s voice. He could have sworn he was the only one around this area at the time, so having that person speak so suddenly surprised him in the slightest bit. Even that for him was rare. Turning to face her, he gave a slow blink before speaking. “Um? I don’t think so. Did I look like I needed help?” Jongin asked curiously. “When did you get here anyways?”
With her coat clung around her, her long brown hair in a ponytail, a hand resting on the strap of her handbag; she was walking home alone after closing her cafe for the day till her footwork halted as her eyes focused on a younger man by the street lamp. Being the curious person she was, she took light steps towards him, offering her help.
"I only assumed you needed help since you're out alone at night, sir." she simply said in reply.
"Only recently. Couldn't you hear me walking over?"
