'Death' (( I had to--- If you don't do angst, you don't have to do this ;w; hehe ))
Death: My character’s reaction to your character dying.
MUN NOTE: I can do angst only that I couldn’t decide how your muse would die so I went with the most simplest and subtlest one. AU setting of course.
MUN NOTE #2: Under READ MORE cut because I got carried away.
MUN NOTE #3: I feel like I’ve went out of topic as I reread the whole thing.
"Minkyung-ah!"
Blinking her eyes unknowingly, she turned her head around towards the direction of the person who had called out her name. For she wasn’t expecting to see anyone, especially in a place like this; she was honestly surprised to see him as her frozen self gave him the chance to tackle her into a hug.
It took her awhile for her to realize that Yoongi wore the exact same hospital pyjamas that the rest of the patients wore. Minkyung had always visited the hospital from time to time just so she could deliver flowers and her paper creations to patients who had been staying long in the hospital. Her visits were mostly to the elderly and the children, trying to brighten their day up for a change. So it came such a big shock to her when he had his arms around her, hugging the life out of her before she responded to his hug.
Yoongi was always known to be a burst of life and energy towards Minkyung. His smile never seemed to fade even though he had explained to her that he was diagnosed with a serious illness till he had to live in the hospital for treatment.
"So that’s why you always say no whenever I text you to come hang out with me or something … You could have told me you were here, you know," she pouted before looking away from him.
He made an attempt to cheer her up which she responded with a reassuring smile, waving her hand dismissively. Minkyung could sense something was wrong with him no matter how wide his smile was because whenever she turned to see his face, he looked lonely, like his mind was somewhere far away.
“All I know is that my heartbeat can stop at any moment. The doctors explained that I have a weak heart and advised that I shouldn’t burden myself with unnecessary things. Even my mum died because of this sickness,” he explained out of the blue.
They were both up on the hospital’s roof, hearing that there would be a series of shooting stars from the news. Minkyung had helped him up there, slinging an arm over her shoulder as they climbed up the stairs. He was even more tired that night and Minkyung feared the worst as they left his room.
“The day before my mum died, she told me that when a person dies, their spirit becomes a star in the dark sky. At that time, I did not believe her and dismissed it as something petty,” he said weakly.
“While I was in the hospital, I saw a shooting star; I made a wish on it and I wished that I could see you again. When we met the other day after all this time, I was sure that my mum brought you to me,” he confessed.
“I … I don’t believe you. You’re lying, Yoongi!” No, she believed him; she was only too afraid to admit it.
“Yeah, yeah. I was joking. Smile a bit will ya?”
“No, I can’t. Not right now.”
Minkyung felt as if he was slowly disappearing even though he was literally next to her. Suddenly, she only saw darkness as had covered her eyes with his hand.
“Hey, I have something for you. Don’t cry Minkyung or it will fade away,” he sounded so weak, it scared her.
“I … I don’t want any gifts. Please …” she stuttered and her tears were finally falling.
“Please … Don’t … Don’t speak right now,” he pleaded as he covered my mouth with his hand.
“But Yoongi …”
“I feel so tired. Let me sleep for a while before it begins. While waiting, please just stay by my side. Don’t say anything … Just stay with me. Please.”
It was not soon before long the stars started to fall and Yoongi’s grip on her loosened; he laid on her lap and he looked so peaceful.
“Yoongi, wake up … The stars are falling … They’re falling for you so you have to wake up. Yoongi, you need to see this and smile. I’m already missing your smile. Smile, … for me … Please … Wake up,” she managed to say in between my sobs.
Yoongi was asleep but this time, he would not wake up anymore. There were a few words scribbled on his palm but she could not read it as it had faded due to her tears. Minkyung would never forget that moment under the shooting stars; the moment when the distance between Yoongi and her was so close yet so far forever.
