Regarding that last anon, I have a dando headcanon that is almost exactly like that. I find Lando’s shift in behavior towards Daniel from 2019-2021 so interesting, he went from being laughing within ten seconds in Daniel presence to telling people on stream at the start of 2021 that him and daniel dont talk much. My headcanon is that Lando had a crush on Daniel but didnt know it fully until Daniel came to Mclaren and instead of acknowledging his feelings i think he decided to shut down. And I feel like Daniel didn’t really know how to handle that so he kept his distance, things eased up a bit after monza and i think that’s where both pf their walls got fully knocked down and i think we’re now seeing them two in the faze where they’re into the other but havent told each other about it

I love this! You could absolutely turn this into an amazing slow burn fic spanning from lando entering f1 in 2019 to present date

Just them going from Lando being an absolute giggling mess in front of Daniel and joking with him in the paddock and online in 2019/20 to them not being able to spend more than five minutes together without it being force in 2021 is such an interesting space and mindset to write. You have Lando possibly panicking and struggling with his sexuality and crush and worrying about being outed and then there's Dan who was excited to work with Lando who completely shuts him down and out. So he builds his own walls

Until monza where there's this shift and those walls start falling slowly over time until they get to where they are now; sitting on feelings but being friends

How about, Daniel felt not that great before the start of the race but good enough that he can drive and than the incident with Carlos happens and he feels so bad. The rest of the race is hell for him. Lando got p3 and he's so proud but he didn't want to bother his tiny boyfriend with his feelings and just wants him to enjoy the celebration. Daniel talked to Carlos for a moment and apologized and afterwards went to the hotel to just sleep. Lando comes back after his celebration and just cuddles Daniel and tells him that they could have a small vacation before the next race and go to Miami a bit earlier.

Daniel ha ing a horrific weekend. He's felt sick all morning but he got cleared to drive. He's uncomfortable and sweating and he wants cold water but all he has is the warm one while driving. Then he has the incident with Carlos and guilt starts to eat at hum for the entire race. He's struggling and he just wants to go to bed

But lando is out there getting p3. A back to back p3, and he's so proud of his boy that he pushes through it. Doesn't tell lando he's feeling shitty and just celebrates with him until he goes to find Carlos and then goes back to the hotel to take some meds and nap

He wakes up with Lando sneaking into bed. Shusbing Dan and cuddling him, kissing his forehead and comforting him. Telling him its okay and he loves him, and he's gorgeous and a great driver who had a shity weekend.

He just let's Dan cling to him and cry and hug him tight. Afterwards Lando makes a little plan for them to go chill before miami and just take time together to heal and strengthen up before the next race

Dando idea: Lando bullying Daniel for his mustache and he just goes „I feel sorry for whoever has to kiss you with that thing“ and Daniel’s a cocky little shit and goes „u wanna try“

Lando knowing its for a good cause, but making a joke about how Daniel looks like a mix between an old western sheriff and an old pornstar, and going 'I feel sorry for whoever has to kiss you with that thing, they're gonna get horrible beard burn' as he is giggling on the couch in Dan's hotel room cause they were spending some 'team bonding time' together

And Daniel just lean's over and cages him in against the arm of the couch cause he has seen Lando staring at him when he thinks no one is looking, and he just leans in close and goes, 'Oh yeah? You wanna try? Ever kissed someone with a moustache?' and Lando is just squirming under him before he lets out a little gasp and nod and Daniel is kissing him

Dando helmet swap with one of them confessing their love to the other through writing on the helmet? 🥲

Mayb he's been trying to gather the courage to tell Daniel all year that he has a crush on him but between the race year being hard on Daniel, and being awkward around him he just never says anything until Daniel suggests they do a helmet swap

So he just writes the main message in one place, and a smaller message telling Daniel he likes him and would like to go on a date on a smaller bit and being a bit sad when Daniel never realises it

Until later there is a knock on his hotel room door and when he opens it, Daniel is there and Lando steps back into the room, Daniel followin ghim and as the door closes and before Lando can say anything, Daniel is kissing him

hear me out, esteban and lando as university students. lando struggling with a particular subject and his teacher suggesting esteban (who is a year or two ahead) as a tutor.

Lando doing something like graphic design or animation in university while Esteban is taking a more hands on art degree. Lando has to do an elective in one of the fine arts, maybe sculpting which is Esteban's speciality and where Lando struggles. He's always been good at creating with paper and pens and on his digital tablet, but he'd never been good at sculpting

He needs the credit to keep his scholarship and his professor suggests that he works with one of the final year students who needs extra credit to help him with his internship after Uni and that's how they meet

Lando is shy at first, and easily frustrated when he stills struggles but Esteban is kind and patient. Helping him and making jokes, and even when Lando makes mistakes, he makes him feel better about them and jokes about the work being one of a kind and wanting to keep it just to see Lando smile

There’s been quite a few posts over the internet about Lando always looking at Daniel with heart eyes. Can we have a little thing about Daniel showing Lando one of these posts online and Lando blushing and admitting to his crush? With Daniel reciprocating it and they’re getting together?

Daniel and Lando hanging out more and more. People notice they're getting closer, and that they laugh more. And it's clear when Lando gets a crush on the other, he can't hide how he looks up at Daniel with big eyes full of affection and a small smile on his lips.

Lando doesn't realise he is doing this until one day him and Dan are panned out on the couch in his drivers room, chatting and scrolling through their phones. And then Daniel is laughing, shoving his phone in Lando's face and being like 'aw look, we look cute together', and it's just an instagram post with all the pictures of Lando giving Daniel heart eyes and Lando nearly dies cause fuck, everyone can see what he's broadcasting

Daniel noticing that Lando isn't laughing or joking and just looking at him softly and internally having an oh moment and not saying anything as Lando blushes and looks down. After a moment he just looks at his hands and admits that he has a crush on Daniel, and he's sorry cause he knows this is awkward

But Daniel just tugs him into his lap and kisses him

Dando Monaco au: Lando actually going back to the UK for a while when they have a fight with Daniel. Lando is not very used to be in a relationship and is very insecure and in a fight Dan accidentally says something bad to him and Lando goes to the UK for a while to work in the factory while clearing his head. Dan being devastated and worried when he thinks Lando is alone and thinks he is unwanted. They meet again when Dan has to go to the factory too

Lando and Daniel getting into a fight, as couples do, but maybe both of them are a little hot headed, and Lando can be a little childish because he is so young. And this is his first long-term relationship and sometimes he feels the age gap between them and maybe the way he says something has Daniel rolling his eyes and muttering something about Lando being too childish to be in an actual relationship and that just rips the band aid off a whole load of insecurities for him and Lando just tells him to leave. And Daniel does thinking they'll both cool off and talk about it later

Yet when he goes to Lando's later, he's gone. And a text from work confirms that Lando is gone to the factory for some sim work, and Daniel isn't needed that work and Lando won't answer his texts and all he can think about is that he knows Lando has insecurities about age and experience and he knows his words hurt him. And he's alone over there. Knows Max is living somewhere else and Lando is probably in a hotel room with no one to lean on and it has Daniel so worried

When he finally gets to the factory, and finds Lando in the canteen Lando thinks the other is going to break it off but Daniel is just pulling him into a huge hug and holding him tight and kiss his forehead and apologising and Lando is just clinging to him and apologising too
