My pal Tim and my fandoms
A few weeks ago, I gave Tim the first series of Torchwood as a birthday present. He'd actually already watched the show before but, as I had become re-obsessed with TW shortly before his birthday, I (of course) needed to make him watch it again.
Tim, as the bad friend (just kidding, I love him) he is, didn't start it for a week and then he only watched 3 episodes.
(Well, this is really unimportant and probably very uninteresting but documenting this is important to me and I wanted to tell you that the first thing he said about TW was that he'd missed Jack's humour.
I, as the Ianto fangirl that I am, was disappointed in him until I mentioned Ianto's sass and Tim (fortunately for him *cracks her knuckles*) agreed with me that he's great.
The rest is really unimportant... wait, no, we were kind of bashing the way Gwen is often portrayed and how every character who has some kind of development got killed off *eye roll*)
Well, whatever, today he randomly sent me a message that read "Thanks Torchwood. Now I hate fairies and would love to kill everyone."
And... this is so important to me?
I love my friends but none of them are really in the same fandoms as I am and I guess I'm just gonna turn this post into a shout-out to everyone who watches shows/movies, reads books or listens to music because of their friends.
Because, for me, it's such a precious gift to see my friends watching/being affected by the stuff I recommend. It doesn't happen often that I get them to actually watch the things I like because they think I'm overreacting, so hearing about him deciding to watch Torchwood although I 'forced' the DVD onto him is the best thing that happened to me today.
Sorry for being so random, but thanks to everyone who does something like this to their friends!!! You are great! <3
