collective groans echoed throughout the bus as all the hockey players from maple hills exited the vehicle. it should’ve been a quick fix, after all, the coaches worked to make sure that both the hockey team and the ice skating team were accommodated. that’s what it should’ve been, yet it was soon found that there weren’t enough rooms for everyone to sleep in. guys had to triple up, and nathan hawkins, the captain, was soon found to be sharing a room with kensie, one of the ice skaters. maple hills hockey team and ice skating team certainly didn’t get along , especially after they had to share the rink. this just only seemed to make matters worse. and now with there not being enough rooms and nathan needing to share a room with one of the girls.. it definitely did not bode well for the hockey team. the boys laughed, throwing it in his face and she all but dismissed him, winding up on the couch of their airbnb. nate felt bad , awful even as he wandered down the steps seeing her laying there. frowning , the hockey player slips out of his hockey jacket before draping it over her, hoping it keeps her warm.

oh he was in the doghouse now. or at least what felt like it. perhaps he was brooding, taking the older brother role a little too seriously, yet he couldn’t believe that they had been sneaking around behind his back : lying to him. olivia didn’t seem to be on his side , chastising him for the fit he through and the actions that occurred after he found out that his sister , his LITTLE sister and best friend were seeing each other. carter cut her off, refusing to speak to jennie, yet it was olivia who forced him to wander up to his little sisters apartment and make amends. after all, they were family and they would remain family above all else. carter just didn’t want to admit he was wrong. as time went on, he realized how ridiculous he was being, yet it was hard to ignore the hurt he felt for not being told. it was how he wound up at her doorstep, a bag of takeout in his hands as he gently knocks on the door, hoping and praying they could talk this through. 〝 jennie? it’s carter… can i come in? 〞

〝 why did i think we had less than this? 〞 boxes upon boxes littered the once empty apartment, filling every area he looked. their apartment wasn’t large , yet it certainly wasn’t small either. nestled in between boston’s farm team and briar university, it was the perfect fit for the flourishing couple as they balanced their relationship and their respective positions. 〝 you’re looking up decorations and we haven’t even begun to unpack yet! 〞 yet he can’t find any reason to be mad. she could order a million things and have them delivered for their place. he’s rounding the counter , slipping his arms around her waist from behind as he presses a gentle kiss to her neck. 〝 we have to unpack.. but i don’t want too. 〞

a beat passes, logan gently rocking grace as he observes the mess in front of him. 〝 let’s just hire someone. 〞

he would not be late. he couldn't be. not after he promised her he would be sitting there in the stands, cheering her on for her first solo performance. the competition just so happened to fall on a game day, just shy of one another. they were playing an away game, traveling a few hours while the skaters got the luxury of using the rink for their competition. it would've worked. the bus would've dropped them off at the rink just in time for the performance to begin, and instead of heading back to the hockey house, he would stay and watch his girlfriend compete. what he didn't anticipate, was the game going into overtime, then a shootout, ultimately putting the team a few hours behind schedule. nathan was freaking out the entire bus ride back to campus, the guys telling him to calm down, that they would make it in time for him to watch stassie perform. but all he could think about was how he messed up.

would she forgive him if he missed this monumental moment for her? after he specifically promised he would be there?

before the bus came to a complete stop, nathan rushed into the arena, JUST as she was about to perform. pushing his way through the crowed of people, he found her parents, sitting next to them, still in his gear, hoping she didn't realize he almost missed her performance.

a hand full of boxes littler the now... less empty apartment as she stands there with such pride on her face. her hands move to fix a picture of her and garrett on graduation day, smiles wide as they hold one another. who knew this was how her life would end up, looking around the room of their almost fully decorated apartment they share together. hannah's smile was wide, wide as she took in the last few boxes they needed to unpack to make their apartment offically theirs. no matter where they were though, as long as garrett was there, she would always be home. things were different now for the bunch, they graduated from briar, garrett was doing what he loved, playing for the team that he loved and she was still making music. 〝 i thought we could throw a house warming party! 〞 they would need to give their friends notice, almost all of them moving on to do their own things. they weren't the night knit college bunch anymore, they were making names for themselves, making each other proud every day. 〝 you know, once you're settled with the team and everything, i don't want to overwhelm you. 〞
