opening up the microwave :Cat_Boom_Explode: mystery guy lore time backstory: -- was one of those cats with an obsession of being loyal to your clan and clan leader and how power is directly equated to your worth -- was a horrible mentor. now, he was great at making apprentices into formidable warriors, but he also forced his ideas of power and loyalty onto them along with the mentality that they were worthless if they weren't powerful enough -- was incredibly cruel to anyone (though it was more of a paced out psychological way than anything loud or outright violent--though he knew he could get away with more when it came to cats he was teaching) who challenged his ideals, no matter age or position, unless they were someone that he felt he NEEDED to be on decent terms with--such as cats in high ranking positions like leader and deputy -- completely despises non-clan cats. the only thing he hates more is seeing one get accepted into a clan -- (probably killed or tried to kill his leader or deputy to move himself higher in the ranks. it would fit, but i'm not sure. that thought's still in the microwave) -- was eventually killed by several queens. good riddance currently: -- dead, with a habit of wandering. he refuses to say where exactly he should be residing--though if asked if he's a starclan cat, he says yes. -- absolutely hates milkwail. just completely despises her. pretty much only shows up to her because she looks like an easy target, and stands for everything he hates, at that. (former kittypet that joined the clan, completely unskilled when it comes to fighting and hunting, "fat and lazy", thinks dying for your clan is stupid, etc) -- he'll show up for other cats on occasion too, though, albeit as a distant shadow taunting them . . . or as a 'starclan' cat offering advice and promises of some sort of great destiny if they look like they'd be the type of cat to believe it. (in both cases, it's often with the end goal to destroy things that he finds ideologically repulsive to replace it with something he finds to be more correct -- hm. i don't recall canon warriors lore but i will simply ignore that. he can possess cats that are too weak to fight him off, however he is still limited by said cat's weaknesses -- a little too obsessed with having a presentable, fear-inducing entrance. he will usually only show up to a cat in very dark areas (such as during the night) or when they are casting a tall shadow (such as within a den during dawn or dusk) -- (not sure if this is gonna be in the case of possession or in the case of his presentable entrance, but i think it would be interesting to him to take the form of other cats, albeit with red pupils and a complete inability to fully copy their mannerisms) in conclusion, uh. do not listen to him and his lies. and point highkit directly at your shadow if he's getting particularly annoying

keep in mind most of this is potentially subject to chance (milkwail gaze) i'm bad at sticking with all of the lore i form in most cases

i DO think i'm gonna go with the abandoned kittypet backstory, though i'm not neccessarily sure of why she was abandoned. maybe her twolegs got bored of her. maybe they were annoyed about her stealing their food. maybe she ate four family size bags of cool ranch doritos after they left for a weekend

leaning towards her being bought as a ""purebred"" siamese kitten from a. less credible than usual breeder. i wouldn't be surprised if she was some sort of siamese but her genetics are simply a little silly. i also think her kittypet name was Mocha :3

despite being the world's saddest color point (regarding the amount of color, not the huge wet eyes), she was a very silly animal. did all sorts of wacky cat things. definitely loved going on walks and car rides. loved attention. world's best cat if you like beasts that want attention 16 hours a day and and have locks on your pantry

um. and then she was abandoned as mentioned on a previous post :Cat_Boom_Explode:

@fallingstarsau since i mention dewcall a few times in here and i could use feedback on how she would actually act :3c

ok ok. milkwail plot progression between being hit by a car and tallshadow's clan introduction (unbeknownst to most of them). i didn't proofread this whatsoever. adding a read more for the slightly long post. i realistically shouldn't be manifesting this much lore with how much of everything is still grounding itself but if i don't let things out of the microwave it will eventually blow up

so, milkwail gets hit by the car, ends up in the medicine den, you know how it goes. so she's stuck in there, alive (i have faith in at least two of the mommyclan healers) but not exactly doing super hot. it takes a little bit, but things seem to look like they might get better. she's at least conscious and semi-lucid at this point. (<- probably a couple of explanations and rejections at this point. stuff milkwail thinks about but would never mention while fully up and aware. not enough to admit anything to condorscratch though, but enough to ask for her)

things are good until they aren't. infection sets in in her injured wrist--badly. fever sets in and she spends most of her time awake rambling and ranting, especially at her shadow. the healers can't seem to find anything that works and she gets worse, much, much worse. she looks like she's a whisker away from dying, too weak to ramble, too weak to do anything but lay there, really. and then--she gets better.

no one's sure what happened, but something must have worked. she's left with a still blown pupil, healing wounds that will eventually be covered by long fur, and a wrist that will probably never be the same, but she's alive, even if she still has quite some time to spend in the medicine den. but . . . something's wrong. things LOOK like they're healing, but the reek of infection does nothing but get worse. she's lucid but just so . . . nonchalant about everything. she doesn't talk like she used to, just the occasional few lines as opposed to the typical rambling or awkward one word responses based upon who she was with. she ignores cats that she would often greet and gift things to before, with little reason to do so. (aside from dewcall . . . probably. assuming the rejection was during the previously mentioned semi-lucid state, though i'm sure she would be aware of how milkwail wasn't exactly entirely lucid) she looks like she'll be physically okay but things are just so off. milkwail was the kind of guy to constantly be eating or drinking. now, she just takes a few bites of freshkill and occasionally drinks when reminded. she won't even look at her old favorite foods.

(of course, i'm sure most of you guys have guessed that it's just tallshadow. he decided to be a little silly when she was on the brink of death and just evict her from her own body. milkwail, unsurprisingly, panics and leaves (she assumes she just straight up fully died), running away aimlessly (she'll return soon enough. she just needs to be gone for the time since i'm sure someone would notice her spirit just. hanging around). i think i will simply be a little silly and say tallshadow is able to affect how he (and by extension, milkwail's body) is percieved, given how he is, hence the supposedly healing wounds still reeking. and um. yeah)

(i also don't know how well this would actually blend into canon, but this does give me the mental image of dewcall coming to the (correct) conclusion of milkwail being possessed, but immediately being hit with "i think you're having trouble accepting the accident, dewcall." everytime she mentions it) // me: hehe does anyone have any cats that would want to be friends with my silly little [grips your silly animals and forces them to experience things by virtue of me repeatedly hitting milkwail with a metaphorical metal pipe]

milkwail lore time again (it's 12:30am. all of this is subject to change)

- sortaaaaa has a few issues from getting abandoned. slightly considering the idea that her twolegs adopted a kitten shortly before abandoning her to explain her distaste for children (it's still more avoidance than resentment, though)

- has a habit of running away when encountering conflict (literally). this also might be something she metaphorically does with her own issues (and serious relationships)

- is no stranger to crying in front of others, as is known, but completely avoids showing any completely genuinely negative emotions in front of others. she is simply a little silly like that

i think the most logical conclusion is that the original collar had both a bell and one of those name and phone number tags, but the tag was taken off since her twolegs didn't exactly want her back, but also wanted her to have a decent shot of someone else finding her (since i imagine people would be more likely to approach a friendly collared cat outside)

she probably took the bell off (or had to because it was alerting prey) within a few weeks but i like to think it's still in her trinket pile for her eventual actual cat wife :3c

okokok. milkwail timeline (much more of a relative timeline than an absolute one) -- born, adopted by twolegs, normal cat things (in terms of milkwail anyways) -- another kitten is adopted. milkwail (previously mocha) is abandoned -- winds up in mommyclan (not sure how. still gotta figure it out since she definitely didn't just wander in by herself) -- is given a warrior name a little too fast. she is horrible at hunting and fighting -- homosexual yearning (positive) ---- (we are here currently in terms of the status quo) -- homosexual yearning (negative) -- hit by car -- medicine den shenanigans. injury, fever, infection, all that jazz. peak sickfic stuff. keeps talking to her shadow in the height of her delirium (^mostly undecided about anything beyond that. i also don't want to think too too far ahead of the status quo) -- uhhhhh. something about rejecting dewcall and getting possessed around this point. the details are all up in the air
