Haru didn’t miss his mumbled words, “Haru doesn’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but you’re exaggerating. Haru is just an average person.” She set down the snacks and offered him some warm, calming tea. She watches how Uri was curled up in Gokudera’s lap, purring contentedly. This image brings a smile onto her face to see the feline so happy that her owner is back. She sits down in her seat and starts sipping her tea.

Haru went quiet for a moment, reflecting on what he meant. She didn’t really recall doing much to help him realize anything… but she can remember confessing to him a while ago. It was something she regretted doing, because she felt like she was the reason for the breakup of her two friends. She couldn’t recall exactly when she started having feelings for him, but when she realized, she confessed because she wanted him to reject her so she could promptly package up her feelings and move on. She never expected for Gokudera and Yamamoto to break up shortly afterwards.

It was her fault, wasn't it?

A sigh. “Haru's sorry to hear it didn't work out, but hopefully you both got closure." She picks up a cookie and starts eating it. The guilted feelings were starting to eat away at her. "Haru just hopes you both can be happy." She worries about how they're going to work together as guardians with them being ex's.

Haru quietly smiled, hoping that everything ended well like he said, but it was so hard to have faith when Tsuna had already died. Sometimes, she still felt like he would suddenly return saying something like, ‘I couldn’t rest in the afterlife when my friends were struggling, so they sent me back.’ However, reality was harsh and he wasn’t coming back, and everyone had to work even harder to try to protect their friends and family.

It wouldn’t be helpful at all to be pessimistic, and she didn’t want her husband to think she doubted him. “I’m sure you’ll resolve everything like you always do. You always see your tasks to the end.” Wanting to stay positive, “once everything is over, we can go back to our lives and live together peacefully again.” Well, as peaceful as it can be aside from the small squabbles they’d have every now and again.

“Hm? I remember, you’ll be changing the emoji and there is a back up contact person to ensure that Haru doesn’t get tricked by someone and get lured out.” She confirms that she’s understood the protocol with the coded messages. It made her nervous to know that the situation was so serious that it required the use of coded messages and even a code phrase to tell her that something that happened to him. She bit her lower lip out of anxiety. They did talk about this earlier, but he added on another catch phrase for her to know that he was still fine- just busy.

She assumes it’s because he thought about it some more and revised his plan. “Don’t forget that you promised to take care of yourself the best you can even if I’m not around to nag you to rest or eat.” She’s only willingly going into hiding like you asked because you assured her that you’d do your best to stay healthy. She’s reminding him of that fact. ‘Hopefully Kyoko-chan will have similar protocols in place with her brother so that they both know the other is safe.’

At the very least, she could be happy that he accepted the cookies. Her eyes narrow when he calls her aho-onna as per usual. Normally, she would’ve retorted right away, but she didn’t this time. Maybe she agreed with it, or maybe she just didn’t have the energy to do so.

Haru understood that she had her own talents, but were those talents of any use to anyone but herself? She felt at odds because of the fact she couldn’t do much for the others. She chose not to argue against that point, because she could tell that he was trying to console her or reassure her of something. Ultimately, she always put others above herself, and she didn’t want to make him feel upset over having spoken his thoughts and she refuted it.

A gentle smile, “Thank you, Gokudera. Haru needed to hear that.” It was very rare that Haru was willing to be vulnerable with someone and burden them with her thoughts, so she was relieved to hear that he didn’t feel negatively towards her. She can remember a comment that Bianchi made once, that the guys didn’t want the girls to learn about what was going on with Byakuran because they wanted the girls to remain innocent and pure. Almost like a symbol of what to return back home to. Haru personally did not like being uninformed, and much less feeling like she had to stay innocent… but if that’s what helped him return…

“So that’s the reasoning behind the star-related gifts? Haru had always thought it was because you liked astrology or something.” Well, the north star was always used to help guide people, right? “If not me, the others would always help guide you back.” He could rely on others aside from her.

((Hello! It's an annual tradition for this blog (cept for that one gap year shhhh) where I like to be festive for Valentine's Day! The woman just rolls her eyes. Charming someone so they’ll be her slave, to be at her beck and call? That quite frankly sounded really tiresome and annoying. Was it really that odd for her to make food and to then offer some to another Varia member? She didn’t think so, but perhaps that’s just how it was.

Haru was very unamused. “You could just say so if you don’t want it. I was practicing my cooking skills and made a lot is all.” She huffed. These two were fellow amnesiacs, and Haru felt a sense of camaraderie with him.

“If you’re so paranoid about it, I can take a bite out of the food in front of you to prove that nothing was ‘charmed’ or whatever stupid conspiracy theory you have.” The choice is his. Accept the bento, or make her take a bite and THEN take the bento.

Haru was taken by surprised to be approached by someone she didn’t know. Gi-Giorno Giovanna? The name was very similar to Giannini, so she’s going to guess he’s Italian? 

Italian = Mafia = Tsuna-san’s acquaintance? 

“Hahi? Are you Tsuna-san’s acquaintance?” She was a bit lost on the ‘holds you in high esteem bit’ since she didn’t think that fit anyone she knew. She was just a normal girl. As normal as you could get when being affiliated with the Mafia, anyways. 

She understood that this was a common greeting, but it was still shocking to her. “H-hahi... It’s... a pleasure to meet you as well. Giovanna-san. My name is Haru Miura.” It’s only proper to give your name in return, right?
