Fairly new to Mini Reviews
I don't have a nailpolish update this week because one of nails cracked and it wasn't like the end of the nail rather the near middle. I didn't feel like infecting or anything like that so I decided not the paint them.
So, I didn't finish all the books I said I would. It might have been the fact that I made the list well into the month. Or I'm just really making excuses right now. The books I did finish are Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi, Thomas & January by Fisher Amelie, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, Teen Angst? Naaah... by Ned Vizzini, and The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson.
Ignite me by Tahereh Mafi was a really good book. *SPOILERS - sorry* I love reading Juliette's character development through the books but in this last book she was very strong and admirable. I really enjoyed Tahereh Mafi's writing, it was very poetic. Even though I really love this book, I felt like the whole book ended too happy. I don't know, Shatter Me trilogy is a dystopian and it just ended somewhat like a utopia. I really really loved the conversations that Juliette has with Kenji. The two of them are just so fun to read. Kenji's comments are just so funny to read and Juliette's reaction is just as good. Warner. Gosh, I was team Warner since the beginning. I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. There are just so many quotes that made me happy between Warner and Juliette. Overall I rated the book 5/5 stars. The series for me rated 4.5/5 stars.
Thomas & January by Fisher Amelia wasn't what I really wanted to read. This is a contemporary romance and the second book in a duology - more like companion novel. The book is about Thomas and January and they kiss at a concert and turns out they are actually going to be co-workers in the future. Their attract is undeniable and they both have feelings for each other (duo points of view). So it a sense it was somewhat love at first sight but, I think its actually attraction at first sight. I enjoyed watching the two characters fall in love with each other and it was very cute but, it just wasn't fantastic. The book was lacking in some aspects (not really sure what - sorry). There were lots of traveling in the book as well as music (somewhat). Overall, I rated the book 3/5 stars.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer was a fantastic book. I read the book when I was giving blood and I had a good time doing the both of that. I have to say I really enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. Frankly, I think this may have been my first retelling. (Just kidding I remember reading about The 3 Little Pigs in different variations.) The book is basically about a girl named Cinder and she is a cyborg as well as a mechanic and she meets Prince Kai and her life is then kind of crazy. In the world of Cinder, there is a plaque that is killing many people in New Beijing and her sister, dies from the disease and her stepmother volunteers Cinder to be basically a test subject for the cure of the plaque. I really enjoyed the world of the future Beijing. Although the book at times were predictable it was not any kind of let down. I really enjoyed Prince Kai. He was so sweet and funny. I was so heart broken for Cinder and Prince Kai at the end of the book. I'm hoping for the best for deal o'l Cinder in the next book. I rated the book 5/5 stars. Fantastic.
Finally I read The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson. Can I just say this was a fantastic book. I highly recommend it to all. The world is just painted clearly and the discriptions are just so vivid. I wish there was a movie. I just can't say that enough about the book. Joel, the main character wants to be a Rithmatist, a person who use chalk to draw things that come to life, his entire life. One day Rithmatists at Armedius Academy (school where Joel attends) start to disappear and he becomes one of the people to solve the mystery of their disappearance. I enjoyed all the characters in the book and I actually did not see that "twist" near the climax. Melody and Joel are just so fun to read about. Their friendship was so refreshing to read. The magic system in the book was so interesting. I have the hardcover copy of the book and the details in the book are just so nice to see. I really enjoyed all the pictures and drawings of the chalklings, they really help emphasize how the whole drawing things and coming to life works. I was hoping to get more information about Joel's father but, oh well it didn't bother me whatsoever. So I'm gave this book 5/5 stars. I absolutely love this book. One of my top books of the month and possible the whole year - we shall see.
So I read some other books instead of my TBR because I felt like it. I don't really tend to finish my lists of TBR. I probably won't be doing any reviews for these because they weren't really part of my TBR and typing mini reviews is kind of tedious. I'll just list them down and if I feel like it, I will type some mini reviews in the future. I read The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima, The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, The Little Android by Marissa Meyer, and Glitches by Marissa Meyer. Overall, I would say I had a good month of reading.
*I just realized that you should probably go look up the synopsis of the books I read or else my reviews aren't going to make any sense. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience.
