I did the audiobook for The Secrets We Kept by Lara Prescott. It takes place during the height of the Cold War. The CIA wants to use a book - Dr. Zhivago - to win the hearts and minds of Soviet citizens. The story spends a lot of time with the girls in the typing pool - because they know everything. And sometimes they are recruited for other missions...in the field. The author also gives us Pasternak’s difficulties and danger in getting Dr. Zhivago published. A great story about friendship, survival, duty and love. Wish I had read this sooner. A great audiobook performance by Carlotta Brentan and Cynthia Farrell.
