house (horse) party
Looks like everypony ended up having a party at Clover's house. Though perhaps Clover is having second thoughts? The family that once lived here is no longer home...
This piece has been my little comfort piece for a few weeks. I always love drawing my ponies...
This is the entire DRA main group (sans the parent characters) which I've wanted to do all together for a while. This also includes the 6.5 siblings (Callisto Carnival, Dawn Chaser, & Hearth) for the first time as I've not drawn them before haha. Designs may not be final if I draw them again someday.
I really liked thinking about where each character would be and what they'd be up to. There ended up being plenty of little hidden details too which I really enjoy.
This is isometric (done with iso grid paper) and the floorplan is actually one I've had for the Maeda household for a long time, kinda... if you've read Crashing Waves & Bloody Sand, this is the same layout I used for the scene in that fic (albeit a little ponified lol)
Here's a background only version, with the Maeda home photos instead.
It's always nice to return to drawing my ponies again after it's been a while. Here's another little scene I've wanted to draw for a bit. I don't think Starlet is too happy about being stuck with Kismet, but the two pegasi seem pretty happy, at least.
I guess it's a little surprising that a banana suddenly appeared. But there's no need to be this suspicious...
Geez, do they think it's a changeling in disguise or something...?
At least somepony's happy about the banana. Hmmm. It'd be nice if there were more, right?
...
....
Maybe it wasn't one of Gizmo's best ideas...
Well, no harm done, and Thrift seems happy. The bananas must be pretty good...
Or maybe, he's already coming up with a bunch of banana-related business ventures? Whatever the case, I'm sure they won't go to waste. I hear Scarlet makes a mean banana puff, and banana bread never gets old.
I think somepony is getting sick of all this banana talk, though. They've kinda got a point though...
Well, fair enough.
....?
Thank you for the ask, Banana Pie. This was very silly. When I realized what the message in my inbox was I was delighted haha. Had to take the opportunity to respond like I was doing a classic tumblr ask blog post. Thanks for dropping by, and for the banana.
The momentum continues, unbelievable. Ayame down, one more to go!
Notes:
- your typical speedy/bolt cutie mark with a heart
- her markings are loosely based on thoroughbreds, a breed known for racing
Ramblings below
Believe it or not, Quicksilver is one of the fastest ponies alive today. It's not a secret, by any means. But she's not likely to bring it up unprompted, and thanks to her decision to remain mostly anchored to her hometown instead of pursuing a more star-studded career, you probably wouldn't know it.
For Quicksilver, there was always somepony else to keep up with, or catch up to. As an athlete, that competition made her strive to become better. And with a dream to represent her hometown in the Equestria Games-and bring home the gold-she drove herself hard.
Her passion was commendable, but it often led to her leaving other things in her life behind. Friendships, and other hobbies were neglected for the sake of getting just a bit faster. Just a bit stronger. Unfortunately, there's only so far one pony can go on determination alone.
After stretching herself too far over events, training, and pushing the limit one too many times, Quicksilver was forced to stop. During one particular race, she injured her wing badly, and was forced to take time to recover, and rest, for the first time in far too long.
It stung, watching other ponies begin to outpace her in her absence. But it turned out that a broken record wasn't the end of the world after all. And in those moons spent in recovery, she made a friend or two, ones she felt understood her. Despite how 'awkward at communicating' she considered herself to be, they liked her, for her.
So when Quicksilver at last returned to the skies, she kept those friends close, and resolved to hold herself back. Of course, she never gave up on that dream of hers. But whether she reaches it or not, she knows she'll have ponies cheering her on regardless.
And there we have it! Though this might have been obvious from Kizuna's entry, she's from that same town Kizuna comes to appreciate, and which Kiyoka calls home. This design came fairly easily once I settled on the thoroughbred idea. Though I'm still waffling over how much detail to add to these each time.
I also feel like these silly pony names have either been immediately right on the money after I settled on them, or kinda 'ehh is this even a good name' with no in-between haha. Quicksilver is kind of in the latter category but it's, okay. It's no Saber Frost, Kicks Horseshoes, or Radiant Ember /silly
Anyways, just one more to go! Woah, that's kind of surreal given how long I've been doing these... Like I said before though, this little au project won't stop there, probably! At the very least, it hasn't left my brain just yet haha.
