Maybe this is a dumb question but what is my immortal? And why are people so obsessed with who wrote it. Sorry I'm behind the times, I live under a rock

My Immortal was a legendary trainwreck of a Harry Potter fanfiction on fanfiction.net back in ‘06-’07. the story followed Ebony, a 17 year old vampire girl who hated “preps” and loved being “goth”. it had an incomprehensible plot, terrible spelling and grammar, and really very little to do with Harry Potter at all.

for years, My Immortal and its author’s identity have been an enigma. some people mocked. some laughed until they cried. some cringed so hard they couldn’t make it through the first chapter. but almost everyone asked the same question: is this for real? this can’t be sincere. it’s gotta be a troll. …right? but what mere troll would write 44 chapters of something so consistently awful over the span of two years?

I could keep trying to describe it, or you can read about it on Wikipedia, but honestly, words don’t do it justice. I will simply leave you with the first paragraph, and a link; the decision to continue the experience is yours from there.

I love Hot Topic and I buy all my clothes from there. For example today I was wearing a black corset with matching lace around it and a black leather miniskirt, pink fishnets and black combat boots. I was wearing black lipstick, white foundation, black eyeliner and red eye shadow. I was walking outside Hogwarts. It was snowing and raining so there was no sun, which I was very happy about. A lot of preps stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.
