An Untitled Goose Game inspired story featuring our favourite bastard.
(Set in a pre-canon AU where Quinn and Eliot used to work together sometimes, before Eliot joined Damien Moreau's organization. This is set during the time Eliot is employed by Moreau, but the Moreau situation is never looked at directly, so there is very little (if any) angst.)
POV: Youâre gonna need your hitter to work through his injuries on this one, and you know he would agree. Unfortunately, he seems to be having a Small Problem.
from having taken a weighted average of everyone elseâs quinn head-canons i have long since decided that quinn didnât go to high school (or probably even middle school) and as a result he has a lot of random knowledge gaps
and now i kind of want some fic of hardison (or someone else, but i feel like it would be hardison) stumbling over this sometimes
for example, i think quinn knows how to do rough numerical integration in his head, because thatâs how he computes net wind-induced displacement on a long-range bullet trajectory,
and he probably knows enough trigonometry and vector geometry (cross products, etc) to compute the size of the coriolis and eötvös effects given the latitude and desired trajectory, again for sniper-rifle related reasons. and hardison knows (and is vaguely disturbed by) all this...
but then hardison tries to explain elliptic curve cryptography to quinn because they like to exchange coded messages for fun and quinnâs just like âwhatâs a polynomial? whatâs a prime number? why are you looking at me like that?â
or, like, quinn probably has enough chemical reactions memorized to know how to mix cleaning supplies and/or industrial solvents into toxic gases or explosives in a pinch,
but also when hardisonâs complaining about how his latest experimentâs not working, because the molecules are coming out with the wrong chirality, quinnâs just like âwhatâs a chirality? also, whatâs a molecule?â
but maybe due to the dr. watson effect, explaining to someone who doesnât know high-school level math/science (but is not too embarrassed to ask questions anyway) actually sometimes helps hardison work things out when heâs stuck
(though usually itâs just very trying on his patience, and, while hardison can be quite patient when he wants to be, he sometimes wonders if quinnâs doing that on purpose... also maybe quinn does occasionally do it on purpose, either to annoy hardison or to distract him from something thatâs actually even more distressing)
Iâve read some fic where Quinn (kind of) joins the team, but itâs implied that sometimes he still kills people, and now I want a fic that really explores this angle.
Like maybe thereâs a job with the team and itâs a situation thatâs a âkill boxâ as Leverage calls it, and if he doesnât kill the bad guy, that bad guy will with near 100% certainty kill someone on the team or the clientâs kids or something, and so Quinn takes the shot. And then afterwards Nate flips out about it and Quinn is just like âwhatever, man, I did what I had to do, if you want to fire me, then fire me, but I donât have to listen to this,â and storms out.
And, since Eliot is usually the only one capable of reining Quinn in when he gets like this, Nateâs like âEliot, talk to him!â
But Eliot actually agreed with Quinnâs assessment and would probably have killed the guy, too, if he were in that position. So he goes and finds Quinn (which is an adventure and a half, because Quinnâs not in a mood to be found, not even by Eliot) only to be like, âNice shot. Not sure I could have made it.âł
And Quinn, despite having never once doubted that Eliot would have his back on the job, actually cannot believe that Eliot would have his back on this one.
This morning I received this amazing picture that I commissioned from @buttercookie-art who is just the best! Please regard them! I love this so much!!
(Thank you to @wolves-in-the-world for the idea behind this and @darkfinch for setting a fine example re: art commissioning!)
