My little brother is home from rehab! Almost 40 days since his stroke. He has movement in his left leg but not his left arm. He can stand on his own but can definitely fall over if he tries to walk on his own. So he really is wheelchair confined for now. He was so happy to see all the dogs for the first time since labor day weekend. My tripod Cody barked at him for hours when she first saw him, we think she was afraid of the wheelchair because once he got into his hospital bed at home she cuddled right up to him.

Here's hoping he continues with his physical therapy. He's on anxiety and depression pills and hasn't wanted to smoke or drink yet 🤞so we'll see. We all wish he had better insurance so he could get more in-depth treatment long term. But the place he was at was amazing for being short term. He really has recovered well thanks to them.

The farm we camped at this weekend offered three field campsites, so we checked them all out, finally deciding on site 3. The baby loved exploring, eating all the food, and the puppy hangs. The first night was so cold with the wind, I made her wear three layers under her snowsuit, just to be safe. I brought my tent to sleep in with her, but we ended up sleeping in the bed of my brothers truck camper since we could turn on a little heater for the baby.

We camped on a farm up north this weekend. The camp hosts had a giant dog that pretty much stayed at our site the entire time, only going home for it's breakfast and dinner. One night we woke up at 2am for a bathroom break and the dog was sleeping outside our tent/camper! It even had frost on its fur since the temperature got down to freezing.

Super cool dog, wicked friendly, got along with my brothers dog and my friends dog- she loved it so much she even invited it in for morning cuddles, lol!

One of the only rules for this campsite was "don't feed Chaga, the dog"

My brother and I took the baby for a walk in the woods on conservation land during the snowstorm yesterday. She used the sled she got for xmas '24 but I think she'll outgrow it before this winter ends! We were the only ones there (we usually are in good weather too, but the roads were so bad and nothing was plowed yet that I wasn't expecting anyone else to be there) and she loved playing on the nearby playground afterwards. She was hilarious moving around in her snowsuit. And out yard looked pretty last night and this morning in the snow.

First time reading The English Patient. Lovely 74° October afternoon while the baby naps. I rearranged the living room and her nursery this morning. Cleaned the whole house. Kind of like a spring cleaning for fall. Nice break before going to see my brother this evening.

Got a tomato plant for the deck so the baby can pick to her heart's desire since the tomatoes in our garden aren't ready yet.

And the humidity is taking a break so we're hanging in the yard with two black beans.

A snippet from camping in Vermont. First time camping during the week and it was so relaxing! Baby did such an amazing job and loved the water! We went with my little brother, his pup, my friend Auntie Kay, and her pup Ranger.
