hi! can you do number 12 with miyuki! preferably a female reader :)
He knows he shouldn’t be excited at another person’s misery, but he was, at least a little.
Miyuki had always thought he was smart, not necessarily the smartest, but he was observant and knew how to judge situations well. Apparently, that only extended to being on the field and had nothing to do with his personal life, where he failed to ask you out on multiple occasions. He could tell you liked him, at least a little, but he still had never acted on it despite his own feelings towards you.
And then you’d come to him, excitedly rambling on about a date with some new schmuck, and he was left wondering what the hell he could do now.
Until he received that phone call from you a few minutes ago.
“My date stood me up, can you come pick me up?”
“Sure. Stay put.” His surge of excitement to hear that your date didn’t go off without a hitch also made him feel guilty, and he pushed down his own feelings so that he didn’t offend you when he picked you up.
“Hey.” You sound miserable as you plop yourself into his car, sinking into the driver’s seat and staring at your phone, irritated. “Thanks for getting me.”
“No problem.” He wanted to ask you if you wanted to come back to his place so you weren’t alone, or if he should just drive you home, but that damn inability to do the right thing at the right time struck him. He didn’t know why it was so hard to just act on his feelings, to just accept it if you rejected him, but something about the situation felt like he would be manipulating you if he tried to pull something now.
After a few moments of silence as he begins driving you home, you turn to look at him, asking, “Can we just go back to your place?”
Things generally didn’t work out for him, but this situation so far has been. He nods wordlessly, asking if you wanted to pick up food on the way back, before the car ride is over and you finally arrive at his apartment (food in hand). Miyuki ushers you upstairs, playfully snatching your phone away and telling you to stop worrying about your date throwing you some excuse; you pouted at him, but didn’t argue further, more than happy to focus your attention on devouring the comfort food he’d bought you.
“Thanks for the food… and clothes!”
Miyuki wonders if this was actually a curse for pining after his good friend for so long, and he had never understood the draw before about seeing the person you liked in your own clothing; he understood now. You had raided his closet for something more comfortable to wear, since you didn’t seem to have any intentions of returning to your own place that night, and had picked out a baggy shirt and sweatpants so that you hit the ultimate comfort level. He knows he has it bad when you look just as good dressed down as you did dressed up, and he wonders if he’d find you even more attractive if he knew you’d dressed that way for him. Selfish, he knows, but he’ll just keep those thoughts to himself for now.
“So now, you know you have to tell me what happened with this guy.”
“Well…” You look up, down, anywhere but at him, and you look rather disgruntled, but Miyuki didn’t really detect any sadness coming from you. You seemed more frustrated than let down, like there was something else plaguing your thoughts besides your date standing you up. “It was just not meant to be, I guess.”
“Oh, that’s all? You didn’t scare him away with that personality of yours?”
“You love my personality!” God, did he.
“Of course. But it’s not for everyone!” He laughs and you smiled right back at him. “Did he ever message you back?”
“He did…” You seemed reluctant to talk again. “He said I seemed more interested in the idea of him rather than… him. Which is whatever, I guess, I just wished he’d canceled the date before I left my house. I could’ve been hours deep into a video game by now.”
“You wouldn’t be here with me if you hadn’t been stood up.”
He’s right, and you know it, biting your lip as you look at him. You don’t know why it had suddenly started feeling weird to spend alone time with Miyuki, you’d known him awhile now, and you had always been comfortable around him before. But after you’d come to the realization he was attractive, hot, gorgeous, beautiful, you think it made you want things, things that you didn’t want to want because it could ruin a friendship. You didn’t know what you’d do without him in your life, and you weren’t willing to find out, but the way he’s looking at you now is killing you.
Damn him for his beautiful eyes and his haughty smile and his kissable lips.
“You’re right. I guess tonight happened for a reason, huh?”
