“33. And slay not the life which Allah hath forbidden save with right. Whoso is slain wrongfully, We have given power unto his heir, but let him not commit excess in slaying. Lo! he will be helped.” Surah Al Isra 17:33. The Quran is righteous and so fair. Allah has given us justice and fairness, even in our exacted revenge we are given guidance. Alhamdulilah and mashallah. An example of that is this ayat. Upon further look at this ayat we see that it allows an offspring to get revenge for his parent (for example if he or she was murdered). However, in the same ayat it is warned to not kill more than the culprit. Meaning, you can’t go getting revenge on the family and the children and etc. Islam is a religion of peace, but Allah is our creator and He knows best our nature. He knows that there may be times where we are left with only violence as a means and He has allowed so BUT WITHIN HIS MEANS. Yet, so often humans foolishly twist the word of our Lord and Master to fit their manifesto (ie extremists). Islam is first and foremost a religion of peace. Always remember that. Allah will always question us for each and every one of deeds. Remember: He knows what is in our hearts— so be mindful and clear with yourself as to what is in your hearts. Do not be misguided into denial. And always prioritize peace over violence. To sum up, this ayat is an example of when revenge is allowed but it also clarified limits of that revenge to maintain fairness. Furthermore, it is important to note that throughout the Quran, peace is preferred over violence. So do not be fooled in what’s taken out of context and framed to fit certain people’s ideals. Islam is about peace and kindness.
