incredible portrayal of memory and dementia, adds depth to a character who'd previously just been a fairly one dimensional bad mother but becomes a fully realised person over the course of just twenty minutes, some of the best creative use of animation and visuals in an adult animated series

community's paintball episodes are legendary by themselves, but i do feel like this one shows a lot of character development and a well thought out plot that involves every character and is still funny and easy enough to follow not to need a lot of concentration to watch it

Digimon Adventure (1999): 1.21 Home Away from Home

Suddenly, Tai and Koromon find themselves back in the real world, where they meet Tai's sister Kari, who somehow recognizes Koromon. To their surprise they find no time has passed since they first arrived in Digiworld. Realizing that the problems in the Digital World are having an effect on the real world, Tai and Koromon return to the Digiworld through another dimensional warp.

Ohnnnn my god the way that the colour palette of the real world is dull and grey as opposed to the colourful and lush Digital World represents how even though the DigiDestined have spent all this time wanting to go home and looking for a way back when Taichi gets there it seems boring, unfriendly, and strange?? The way that using Maurice Ravel's Bolero as the background music throughout the episode invokes the repetition of life in the real world and heightens the strange and wrong feeling persistent in the episode while also being a callback to the original Digimon Adventure short film? The realisation that nearly no time has passed in the real world while the kids were in the Digital World and that nobody has even noticed that they were gone?? The reveal of Taichi's little sister Hikari being the final DigiDestined? BANGING episode 10/10

First on screen character death of the show one of the main characters gets incinerated by a god as he sacrifices his life to defeat them so many people dropped the show after just hearing the music played during they scene can make me cry There are so many good lines from his funerals scene they describe Zane so well the guy who died had ice powers and the funeral took place in July and! It! Started! Snowing! When! Kai! Gave! His! Eulogy! I am so very emotional about it I love it so so much you would not believe

In this musical extravaganza, Sunnydale residents find themselves bursting into song, and flame, when a demon attempts to make Dawn his bride.

The greatest musical episode of all time! Pretty much all of the songs are unironically bangers, it's better choreographed and shot than frankly a lot of the bad movie musicals that have been inflicted on us in the past few years, and despite the goofy concept it still manages to tell an incredibly affecting story about the protagonist's struggle with depression. Pulls off an absolutely monumental tonal shift from comedic musical theatre homage to devastating emotional gut punch that manages to never feel tonally dissonant / Best musical episode ever (character development, lots of bops, and spontaneous combustion)

It is the best musical episode of any TV series. It is whimsical, but also far from filler and major plot beats happen while the characters sing jaunty little toons about them. Willow and Tara have sex. Spike gets and angsty alt rock song about his unrequited buffy crush. Buffy admits that when her friends resurrected her she was violently ripped out of heaven and doesn't wanna be on earth anymore. Spike and Buffy kiss. Its the best. / Invented musical episodes and is also one of the only good ones ever to have been made. Changed the game. Insane that it’s as good as it is.
