@r3vo1ution asked; “ I'll tell you the story of an interpreter, who bribed his way into translating for high officials. ”

Rarely did the opportunity present itself to stop and listen. The world, more often than not, abhorred idleness, causing Miguel to make decisions within seconds. Stopping threats, be it to this world or any other, before they could fully manifest.
Given such a life lived, stories felt more like luxuries, pauses that he couldn't afford to take, and yet... here he was, crouched low on the balls of his feet, attention fixed exclusively on the very man that the historical records of the future would label a ghost. As he listened, he tried and failed to shake off the feeling that Barnes had told this exact story before, given the ease of its cadence, and the well-timed pauses just before questions would slip free from his mouth. Not that he minded at all; if anything, it made the shared memory all the more believable.
"Let me guess, it doesn't go well for said interpreter?" The kind of person that would strike most as a nobody on paper, yet evidently found a way to make himself virtually irreplaceable, unless...
"Did he die to one of your bullets?" Or perhaps a knife was used instead. Either way, he didn't expect the central character of the other's tale to still be enjoying the luxury of staying above ground.
