🫳; who do they feel they owe, but never paid back ?
selina owes thomas wayne. though his death was the ultimate defining factor that drove selina into her career choice, thomas wayne invoked many a lessons and provided a stable, fatherly figure to selina that she still carries with her to this day. her life was full of foster homes and instability, and the waynes gave her what little stability she had before the zoo. she owes martha wayne in the way that she still provided that stability after the wake of the Zoo. as seen in comics, all it takes is a phone call from martha wayne for selina to come home, but she'll forever feel like there's nothing she can do to repay her or thomas.
🪞; when have they looked at their reflection and hated what they saw ?
the first true job she did for someone of 'old money' - she felt like her skin was oily and *wrong, and no amount of scrubbing could remove it from her body. she decided then and there that she would once more invoke her motto of using the rules meant to subdue her to her own advantage - only selina kyle would be in charge of her own life.
🪦; what would they want on their gravestone but never admit aloud ?
daughter. though selina does not let the 'orphan in a foster home' define her, there is still a little girl that desires the nuclear family that she was so denied. it will not be on her grave - selina has no desire to hunt down those who had completely left her for dead essentially within gotham's foster system, but part of her does wish she had been granted that luxury that every little girl desires.
