Theory: The Odd Headcanons of Vaati, Part Twelve: Possible Albinism?
Everyone seems to have had this thought once or twice: how likely is is that Vaati is an albino Minish?
Well, judging by his appearance, he matches up pretty well: pale skin and red eyes. Even his lilac hair works, since it's a very light shade.
But, other than that, is there anything technical-wise that matches? ...Sort of.
If we compare the Minish to mice again (like I did in Part Forty-eight of my "Irony of Vaati" theory series), then the "rarity" of albinos increases. The Minish could EASILY have the tendency to have albinos. And- at this rate- considering that brown hair seems to be the norm for them, the lilac hair could ALWAYS be the result for an albino Minish! This means that there COULD be more Minish like Vaati out there; whether they wear purple like him is up to debate, though...
And now, for science. Albino mice with a certain strain of albinism were reported to have more of a difficulty getting out of water. Could this be why Vaati doesn't have a single Water-based attack (other than the inherent Minish fear of water)? The mice with that same strain also were less active in an open field. Could this be why Vaati never seemed to interact with the other Minish? (That or they avoided him possibly because the colour purple is seen as "unlucky" in Minish culture, as I've theorised numerous times). The aforementioned mice also appeared more stressed when it came to testing than their non-albino counterparts. Could this be a reason why Vaati hated Ezlo? If Ezlo tested him a lot on magic lessons, Vaati WOULD probably feel worse (among other things Ezlo may or may not have done...)!
Albinos in general also have a tendency to have eyesight problems. This would be horribly ironic considering that Vaati's final form is that of a giant eye, and all the other eye imagery he has going on! But, it makes sense. Vaati's very BEING was ironic. He was a member of the smallest species there was, and he considered himself the most "meek" and "miniscule" of them all. Then, he ended up a giant in more forms than one.
Then, as briefly mentioned (also in Part Forty-eight of my "Irony of Vaati" theory series), there's also the possibility that Vaati is anemic, due to his paleness and the fact that the Minish don't seem to be meat-eaters. This is also ignoring the part where the anemic mice were STERILE, so... I have no idea what Vaati was trying to accomplish by kidnapping women in "Four Swords" and what-not.
So, it does indeed seem very likely that Vaati could be an albino Minish. Maybe even anemic, too. But, there's one thing about "kidnapping women" that I think the Goddesses themselves can answer for us...
WHOOP WHOOP I FINALLY DECIDE TO DROP THE LORE BC WHY NOT!!!!
