Gen. What a name that was; though he found it a tad strange that they said they didn’t seem to have one other than what others called it. It was curious, for certain, but it did little to disinterest Kit - especially when it had complimented him so. It melted his heart to know that it seemed to like him just as much as he liked it.
“Gen, then,” he murmured, “it’s nice to meet you.” He squeezed its hand gently, before he leaned over, kissing the top of it in a gesture of greeting. His eyes glowed with affection, adding, “You don’t ever have to apologize to me, Gen. I’ll always understand.” That much was true as long as the pleasantries remained the way they were. Should they try to turn on a dime...well, he would have something to say and do about that.
“Do you know I’m a killer?” he asked after a long pause, cocking his head slightly with a grin. He couldn’t hide it any longer; he had to know if it would run away from him, or if he’d really hit the jackpot here. “Do you know I could hurt you if I really wanted?” He reached out, gently gripping its chin with his fingers to tip its head up at him. “But I don’t want to,” he murmured. “You’re sweet. You don’t make me want to cut you.”

Kit didn’t miss the shiver that the survivor emitted upon being touched. It lit up interest in him like a flame, and it made it eyes glow as he smiled brightly down at it. Why would I be scared of you? it signed, and his heart swelled in his chest. Had this been the one he’d been looking for?
A generator clinked in completion in the distance, but he hardly noticed it. In fact, the trial was the last thing on his mind anymore. He saw it attempt to smile and it melted his heart, convincing him well enough to click his pocket knife shut and tuck it away. He could always pull it back out if needed, but something told him that he wouldn’t need to hurt this one. “Never mind,” he said soothingly, “forget I said that.”
He chuckled softly as he noticed it brush oil onto its nose, and he licked the pad of his thumb before boldly reaching forward and smearing it away again to clean it off. This survivor was adorable, from the way it worked somewhat clumsily to the way it seemed to march to the beat of its own drum. He’d made a fine selection here, indeed.
“Oh?” He didn’t have much time to react to its alarmed signing, instead being pulled along behind the poor, clueless little thing towards a pallet. Wait. Does it know? he thought, bracing himself to be slammed in the face the way he had so cruelly been by other survivors in the trial thus far -- and flinching sharply in the process.
Gen's vision swam into focus, the blurred colors sharpening into the familiar landscape of snow and pine that was Mt. Ormond. It wasn't exactly their favorite locale, their sweater being just a bit too thin to keep the chill out - but that was just background sensation, their mind already getting into gear for its next game of cat and mouse, padding along to the first generator they saw and plopping down next to it, pulling randomly at the wires. Kit was having a bit of trouble with this trial.
His obsession had been difficult to track down to begin with, though he knew they'd always been near. The other survivors were excellent at hiding, leaving him at a complete loss for what he was going to do. He was new to being a killer, too, after all.
It didn't take him long to distantly hear a generator being worked on, however, and finally confidence flooded him as he turned and made his way toward it, spotting a survivor in the distance working away at the wires. Ah, perfect. His pace faltered, however, when he realized with a throb of his heart that this was his obsession. He couldn't possibly hurt it - not yet. Not until everyone else was taken care of. But I can't find anyone else, he thought, frustrated, and so he marched onward to approach the survivor, his expression melting into an unnerving smile.
"You don't have to run from me," he said quickly, pleasantly, hiding his knife behind his back. He didn't need to brandish a weapon he didn't plan on using - not unless this survivor frustrated him. He still had a bad, bad habit of losing his cool on his beloveds, even if they were the first he encountered. "We can just talk."
