More than a month after the debut of the seventh season on the Diriyah track in Saudi Arabia, the Abb FIA Formula E World Championship in the spotlight with the Rome E-Prix, a double appointment on Saturday 10th (race-3 from 4 am, 45 minutes plus one lap) and Sunday 11 April (race-4, from 1 pm on the same distance) live on Sky Sport Uno and streamed on Now channel.
Theater of the Italian E-Prix is the new 3.385-kilometer-long Capitoline track set up in the Eur district. The Roman appointment is the only one throughout Europe apart from the round in Monaco's Principality, scheduled for May 8th.
Formula E: The race route of Rome
Longer and faster than the former track, the new city route that hosts the Rome E-Prix (double race) runs in an anti-clockwise direction. The characteristics of the track include the various ups and downs and three long main straights. 3,385 kilometres long and characterized by 19 curves.
The new layout of the Roman track laps the Palazzo dei Congressi, Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, and, for the first time, the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana known as the "square Colosseum." At the same time, part of the circuit crosses the Parco del Ninfeo.
The street circuit is the second-longest of the FE season behind the Beijing circuit. Rome has been part of the Formula E calendar since 2018: the last to win in Italy was Mitch Evans (on a Jaguar) in 2019, while in 2020, the race was not held due to the pandemic hit.
