🌳 for our muses to get lost in the woods together ( surprise me )
bad situation meme ( accepting ) + @rachalcx // rachal
who's idea is it? to come out here to a place like this, these deep, dark woods, the kind of places that will swallow you whole. that will eat a girl and spit them out a woman, that's what happens in shaded places like this, where the trees come together, and they find themselves, both, lost. "are you getting ANY RECEPTION?" there's annoyance, rather than anxiety, gnawing at the inside of avery's voice. maybe because she thinks that this is simply an inconvenience of sorts, rather than frightening. rather than the kind of terrifying it ought to be...
or maybe it's because it's the both of them. avery and rachel, the fearsome twosome, the girls that would beat any bully up, who's sneer and spit and fight for the fuck of it. avery loves her friend with a sort of fierceness that comes from sandbox love affairs, the sort of thing that time had no replacement for. wasn't that why she has no worry within her bones? what AWFUL THINGS could ever happen if it was the two of them, when they were already ready to fight off the world, if it ever dared to look at the other wrongly?
that a place like this feels familiar and nostalgic, the leaves of maple curling at their ankles. how different it was from the world that they now inhabited as adults, where they were stuck in their phones, the world sealed out by the windows that they shut, the cars that they rode in. sometimes she MISSED IT, their childhood ease. but places like this, inevitably, reminded her of those good things and those moments that they'd stolen to themselves as kids. so why be afraid? it's only ever a bother outside of anything else, arm link loose, lazily, through rachel's own. "well... fuck. do you think we can find the trees we used to mark when we were kids? if we can find those, i think i remember the way back. key and operative word here being think."
