Much like the Bald Eagle is to the United States, Did you that the island of Hispaniola, which the Dominican Republic and Haiti share, is home to the Hispaniolan Trogon, Haiti’s national bird. The Priotelus roseigaster, is the only type of trogon found on Hispaniola. Their natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist mountain forests. The Trogon can be sighted in the high altitudes of Haiti's mountain ranges and are confined to several areas in the country's protected areas. It is one of only two Trogons which can be found in the Caribbean.
