Are you moodily looking out a window right now? Are you listening to earphones while on public transportation and feeling an undefinable longing and sense of loss that you can’t identify? Are you trying to capture a scene where two people fundamentally connect with each other in a way that leaves them both marked forever? Rachels is always the correct choice but this track specifically has got your number
This record had a lot more strange electronic interludes and found recordings and vocal components than any of the preceding Rachels albums, but it is still the same musicians and they’re in the same territory that they explored in Music for Egon Schiele and The Sea and Bells. Highly recommend Rachels for whenever you’re having a lot of feelings you can’t put into words yet. Consider Singing Bridge, a simple beat and ride over the collected sound of an open-grate bridge under car tires. It’s not “post-rock” or “neoclassical” or any of the other bogus genre labels people have thrown at the band. But it is a sound from the same slightly sinister, slightly heartbroken, all introspective dark planet where the rest of their music came from

"Look at me! I wanted it to happen! And when we were gurls, even then—it was the same; it's always been this way! I've always wanted it."
Esti Kuperman / Rachel McAdams (Disobedience, 2018)
Every time I drive I35 south into #desmoines at sunset I am transported back in time to November 2005 when Tony, Adam and I drove down to the #vaudevillemews to see #Rachels and #invert perform. Best concert experience ever. Completely changed how I viewed shows and performance.
