So it's book week this week...
Today at work a little boy asked me who the characters on my drink bottle were. I gave him a breif explanation about the Sailor Scouts being superheroes who protect the world in the name of love. He then eagerly asked me about their powers and where they were from. I answered his questions and he told me which power he would like to have the most - the power to make fire - but if he was in a fight he'd want to use all the powers in different orders to beat the villains and save the people. He was so excited to talk about these heroes he had never heard of before.
When i asked him about other heroes he liked, he listed Superman, wonder woman and Dash from the incredibles - who he was dressed as - also the PJ Mask team and Marinette (Ladybug). He was so excited about the way they saved people and beat the villains.
I didnt really have a point, but I really just wanted to share this because its so important that kids have positive role models regardless of gender. This little boy didn't care if the heroes were girls, he thought they were kick ass. And it made me happy that he was happy and passionate about it all.
