welcome to this little project of mine! i hope i’ll be able to keep it running semi-consistently.
my goal is to post affirming messages to counteract all the hate and exclusionism i encounter in the LGBTQIA+ community, the neurodivergent community, general social justice spaces, and more. there may be occasional info posts as well, gently correcting misinformation.
this blog will be 100% discourse-free! what i mean by that is:
if someone disagrees with one of my posts, i will not reblog and argue.
my content will be positive and stand on its own rather than being phrased in opposition to other people’s content. example:
“aroace people can call themselves queer if they want” - yes ✔️
“you should not say X because it excludes aroace people” - no ❌
there are several reasons for this. one: it’s much better for my mental health than arguing. i recommend giving it a try - the next time you want to make an angry post about people being wrong on the internet, see if you can convert the core of your argument into a neutral or positive PSA instead, leaving out the “somebody said the opposite of this and it upset me” part. just to see how it feels. caveat: in some instances (probably more rarely than you think, though), it may be important to directly refute something.
two: there will always be people who would never have been exposed to the offensive content in the first place if they had not seen someone arguing against it. i want to spare you that sort of accidental exposure.
three: positivity and negativity are both contagious. there’s enough negativity going around at the moment, so i want to spread as much positivity as possible. i want to see how much good i can do without having to fight virtual battles.
whoever you are, you’re welcome here. i really mean that.
if seeing affirmative messages aimed at demographics other than yours offends you, then i suppose you won’t be happy here, but on principle, even exclusionists are welcome to follow. just don’t argue because there’s no point; i will ignore you.
note because this is important: i won’t post positivity for groups that actively harm others. if you believe that i have unknowingly done so, please don’t hesitate to tell me. in a similar vein, factual corrections don’t fall under “arguing” - i would hate to spread misinformation and will appreciate your help.
don’t bother trying to disguise ideological arguments as factual corrections though. i wasn’t born yesterday.
