Common Causes of Radiator Malfunction
While engines are built to withstand a high degree of heat, they can only hold out for so long. Different engine parts can eventually melt and warp under extreme heat, rendering the automobile inoperable. Radiators prevent this from happening by siphoning off heat to regulate engine temperature.
The problem is that even radiators break down every once in a while. It is, therefore, up to every motorist to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out before the problem escalates into a much more serious engine meltdown.
Radiators need to have adequate amounts of coolant fluid running in them, or else they can’t fulfill their cooling function. A spike in engine temperature consequently deserves immediate action. If the coolant level does not rise after each refill, then the cooling system might be suffering from a leak.
Meanwhile, if the engine still does not cool down despite the addition of coolant, then one can assume that the problem lies with either a faulty radiator fan or a defective thermostat. Such parts will need to be replaced if they are already beyond repair.
