Radio Red Is On the Front Burner

 Emily has sent me the working copy for the new Radio Red, so I'm pausing the Hoosier Hysterical sequal writing so I can get the other book edited. It used to look like this:

 But we got the rights to the story back, not the cover, so you'll see it next as something new.

Meanwhile I'll continue to slip in some promotion here and there, because writers gotta eat. I won't make it obvious, though.

As if Hurricane hasn’t had disasters enough.

 Nor will I mention that, say, The Notorious Ian Grant can be enjoyed without reading the first book, Storm Chaser, but since Storm Chaser is only 99 cents as an e-book, why not get them both? We even have copies of both here. Along with Radio Red and all the others. Maybe I'll mention that next time.

[Album + Video] Laura Groves kündigt Debütalbum "Radio Red" an!

Laura Groves' Debütalbum "Radio Red" erscheint am 11. August digital über Bella Union.

Ein Großteil von "Radio Red", das auf die Ende 2020 veröffentlichte "A Private Road" EP folgt, wurde von Groves isoliert in ihrem kleinen Studio geschrieben, produziert und aufgenommen, das von zwei Funktürmen bewacht wird. “I became very drawn to them and they became like symbols to me; they were always awake, sending their messages, the red lights always came on at night and watched over whatever was going on in my life."

Passenderweise – oder vielleicht auch genau deshalb - ist das übergeordnete Albumthema Kommunikation geworden: zufällige Begegnungen, verpasste und abgefangene Signale oder auch Kanäle, durch die wir versuchen, unsere wahren Gefühle auszudrücken. Die Klangwelt von der zehn Songs reicht dabei von synthetischen Ambient-Klängen, Klavierballaden oder zerhackten TV-Titelmelodien bis hin zu Electro-Pop und experimentellem Folk.

Zeitgleich mit der Ankündigung hat Groves ein selbstgedrehtes Video zum Album-Opener "Sky at Night" veröffentlicht. “It’s about feeling your way; finding intuition and trust amidst confusion and conflict. Inspired by late night drives with the radio, Sky at Night is about belief in a love that might not always be tangible but will always makes itself known.”

Michigan Sunset Photos

 We were only up in Michigan for two nights on our summer vacation, but I was looking forward to seeing the sunset over Lake Bellaire. The second night it was okay. The first night? Well, I left these photos un-retouched, so you can see for yourself. (Click on them to make them bigger, I hope.)

At first it didn't look like the sunset would be all that special, but I was able to sit in a chair while the grand-twins made hot dogs and s'mores over the fire, so who was I to complain?

Then the sun broke out and started shining on the underside of a cloud layer.

It turned out to be one of the greatest sunsets I've ever had the good fortune to witness.

No, that's not a funnel--I suspect it's virga, rain that evaporates before it hits the ground. There were thunderstorms far off and to the right in these images.

I've mentioned before that many of the scenes from my novel Radio Red take place near, by, or on this lake. I don't remember if I described the sunsets, but words can't really do them justice, anyway.

Passing in review--again

That's four reviews in less than two weeks! The only thing better would be if the doctor told me I was registering minus on the cholesterol scale, and needed to eat more chocolate. I know that won't happen, because the doc refused to change my test results, even after I offered him half the candy--stupid Hippocratic oath.

He doesn't even own a hippo.
