Radiochemical Catastrophe and Riderless Cities Mark Earth's Decline
October 14, 2124
In a harrowing turn of events, scientists have confirmed that radiochemical pollutants from abandoned nuclear sites have accelerated climate change beyond reversible limits. This contamination has led to unprecedented mutations in both flora and fauna, signaling a steep decline in Earth's biodiversity and threatening the very existence of life as we know it.
Urban centers around the globe have transformed into eerie landscapes populated by riderless vehicles and autonomous robots. These machines, once symbols of technological advancement, now navigate empty streets, maintaining routines for a humanity that is no longer there. The sight of drones delivering packages to deserted homes underscores the profound impact of environmental neglect and the failure to address climate change proactively.
Amidst the chaos, a small group of survivors gathered in a desolate city square to share a meal seasoned with a homemade vinaigrette crafted from the few remaining uncontaminated herbs. This simple act served as a poignant reminder of the world's former abundance and the delicate balance that once existed between humanity and nature. As the planet grapples with the consequences of unchecked environmental damage, the future of life on Earth hangs in the balance.

i googled fukushima updates and i love that the current logistics hurdles include "it's just tritium, stop flinching and let it dilute in the ocean, tritium is natural" (ignoring the elephants in the room, as an excuse to say dumping frees up resources to deal with said elephants; it's not a bad perspective just a myopic one imo) and "nuclear energy is a million times cleaner than fossil fuel, you just have to regulate safety protocols at the plant a million times more attentively than a petrol facility" (as though that's ever gonna happen with our track record across the past 80 years with nuclear energy)
