Blue and White
I ran out of the clinic room, leaving the blue uniformed staff nurse sprawling in my wake. I laughed out loud, slightly insanely, as I heard her call after me, frustrated tearfulness in her voice, “Stop, thief!” I glanced down at my bag filled with plundered drugs, grinning with satisfaction until suddenly I bundled into another woman, standing in my way on the corridor. Evidently “heading me off”, she seized my wrists and I dropped the bag - the bespectacled white uniformed nurse was surprisingly strong. “Oh know you don’t, creep!” she told me firmly. Having evaded capture by one woman, I wasn’t about to succumb to a second and I struggled fiercely, even prepared to leave the drugs, so anxious was I to get away. I was on the verge of hurling her to one side when the clattering flat shoe footsteps of my earlier female nemesis grew louder. “Hold onto him, Claire!” urged the blue clad nurse. Claire did indeed and once joined by her friend, my willpower vanished and I gave up struggling. I glowered as Claire put me in a double armlock and the other nurse checked my bag. “I think they’re all here,” she said, “but let’s get him back to the office and tie him up. Then we can search him properly.” I rolled my eyes at this but soon found myself propelled forward by Claire, dragging my feet, but unable to resist.
Later, the staff nurse checked the stolen drugs again, the medicines spread out on the table of the ward office, smiling with relief while Claire tied my hands behind my back with strips of bandage. I gazed at both women bitterly as Claire then pushed me into a chair and began to tie my ankles to its frame. “Do you know how humiliating this is?” I demanded. “Captured by a couple of female nurses?” They both laughed. I looked puzzled. “Excuse me!” exclaimed white uniformed Claire. “But I’m a radiographer!”

“medicine is like true love: you suffer, fail, learn, fail again, fight, and grow, but you never want to let go“🧠✨🫀
