one of my fav train songs as it is performed by johnny cash. it is a folk song with no singular credited writer, one of the earliest recordings of this song was performed by an ensemble of inmates in 1934 with credited lead being a mr kelly pace. can be listened to here if interested. its just a good song with an interesting history that has passed through many tongues

one of my favorite folk songs as performed by jean ritchie. it has remarkable pace and incredible visual language i do adore the works of ritchie and her history of archiving appalachian folk music, she is a delightful artist🫶
