These were the lazy hours after waking up and medicating hangovers and remedying dehydration and before getting ready for another party that would last until the sky warmed to shades of orange and pink, signifying it was time to go to bed. Len kept busy— crashing local events or getting day drunk in the warm afternoon sun had been her favourite past times. Now, as she trekked down the sloped pathway down to the beach, she headed for vacant beach chairs near the ever burning bonfire, looking for some company. She carried a stuffed Loewe tote bag, filled with essentials (sunblock, beach towel, a bottle and accompanying chaser) and plunked herself down beside another body stretched out in the sun. “Babe,” she clucked, pushing up her sunglasses to better look at them, revealing green eyes that seemed impossibly bright in direct light, “You’re going all leathery.” Pulling out the sunblock, she held it out for them to take.
