Infinity Blade Review
The Infinity Blade by Brandon Sanderson is a 2 part Fantady Series. Because it's the bridge beween the 1st and 2nd Infinity Blade game from Epic Games, the books feel like something inbetween Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I listened to the books on audio via Scribd when I was in a reading slump in late July. With them being only 4 hours long each, they were perfect to jump start my reading.
We follow the life of Siris, the current sacrifice to the God King Radriar. As he climbs up the castle and comes face to face to the God King the unthinkable happens, Siris actually wins. Only for his life to spiral out of control, and he needs to run.
Awakening I rate 5 Stars. It was just the kind of story that I needed. A Chosen One, destined at birth to fight the big evil. No one expects he wins, but he does, and then his world changes. Especially the twist in the last chapter was one I didn't see coming at all. And I'm really interested to see how it'll be picked up in the next book. I do think that my favorite character out of the whole book is Tel. He is quirky, funny and witty. Bound by rules and obligations, but finds ways to tell whats needed to be told. I think my most disliked character in the book is the Main character, Siris. Not that he is bad per se, but at times he's very naive about the world. On one hand I can understand as he has done nothing in his life but fight to be the sacrifice, but on the other hand he is so dumb at times, not understanding how the world works.
Redemption I rate 4 Stars. I really enjoyed my time listening to this book. I think it takes off nicely after Awakening, grounding you in the beginning before taking off. There is another perspective added to this book, so while we don't see only Siris and the God King, we are also introduced to Uriel, who play a very interesting role which is revealed at the end. Speaking of the end... As always I won't spoil anything, or too much, but this ending was absolutely amazing. Thinking back on it now after a few days, I still think back on it fondly. While it is an open ending, as it's to continue in game 2, it's still very satisfying. The twist they put onto the God King was very nice. It shows that not all people are who they seem.
