31 Days of Character Development Challenge
Days 1-10: Motivation and Behaviour
Thanks to wordsnstuff for this challenge! Multi-day post again, since a sudden job offer scrambled my schedule. Hopefully I can keep on top of this now.
Continuing with the creation of Misha Sokolov:
Day 3: What does your character need?
Misha needs to have a sense of purpose.
He finds it difficult to sit still, and is always looking for a way to fill his spare time.
Being sick is torture, both for him and the people taking care of him. His brain tells him he should be doing something, even if his body isn’t up to the challenge, so he often refuses to stay in bed where he belongs (and, being a doctor himself, it’s difficult to argue with him).
Day 4: What are your character’s recurring feelings?
The things he did while under the princess’ control go against everything he thought he stood for. Now he can’t trust himself. Has being away from her really freed him? Or will he start hurting people in Pharae too?
Still, he can’t resist a flash of hope. Raele believes in him.
He’s not sure if clinging to that makes him foolish or stubborn.
Even with the shadows he has picked up, he can’t repress his curiosity. In the end, the world is too fascinating to waste time brooding.
Day 5: If you had to write 10 rules or beliefs your character follows, what would they be?
Either help or do not harm.
Live in such a way that if someone spoke badly about you, no one would believe it.
Put your hair up in a bun, drink some coffee, and get over it.
If you’re going through hell, don’t stop, keep going.
Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.
Mornings are for coffee and contemplation.
Not all storms come to disrupt your life. Some come to clear your path.
I see no good reason to act my age.
Get rid of limiting beliefs.
Above all, if you are not sure how to proceed, just try something!
Misha has a bright future in my original fantasy series Staccato Sonata. Please do not repost.
