Quite the Story [Dan/Rafe]
The whole thing, like so many good stories, had started with some errant, 200 word little blip in the corner of a page in sports illustrated. "High school senior sets national passing record in all categories," was the extend of it. Dan made some calls and dug through the archives of various Virginia newspapers until he stumbled upon the name, which was decidedly Southern.
Rafe Mikaelson.
Dan, with some pleading and bargaining with his editors at The New Yorker, was able to arrange to mix work with this in the form of a paid vacation and repayment for all expenses he might rack up.
The drive down there had been scenic and eventually led him to the University of Virginia, the stadium specifically. Upon arrival, he was surprised that the his potential subject wasn't some over 6'6 beast, but rather a 6 foot one and maybe 190 pounds or so. What was baffling was the fact the blonde could send a football 85 yards downfield standing flatfooted.
Dan waited patiently for practice to end from the bleachers.
