Just had my first character die. Very sad day. Fortunately we have a friendly cleric who happens to be fairly high level. But ahh it's so scary. I love this guy and I don't want even the possibility of him being gone for good. Still wanna make it impactful though. What kinda stuff would you think I could add to his personality or change that would reflect his time in the beyond.
Losing a character is always a terrifying prospect! And I think it’s very smart of you to try and put in the effort of how things might change once they come back to life.
One of the first things I think you should do is talk to your DM–do they have any ideas on what he might see once he dies? Will he even remember dying, or would it be like he just got knocked out and woke up later on? If your DM says that your character would remember life after death, that’s something you should explore further with them. What exactly happens? How does your character process all of that? Is it something that he’s afraid of or does he want to go back? Knowing what it’s like after you die can have a HUGE impact on how a person processes living. It might mean that they’re either more or less afraid of dying, which could mean that your guy becomes more or less reckless on the battle field.
But what if your character doesn’t remember any life after death? Does he just take that as “there’s nothing”? Does he take that as there is nothing but emptiness awaiting him when his body goes cold? Or does he KNOW there’s something, and know that he forgot it? That loss of memory can be extremely frustrating, and he could potentially become more focused on figuring that out.
There are other things to consider than this though, and the biggest thing that I can think of is post-traumatic stress. If anything belongs on the list of things that would cause trauma, I think that dying is a very worthy contender. You may want to figure out if the way he died combined with the aftermath is something that would keep him thinking about it for a long time to come–some deaths may not be traumatic to everyone. My PC Rodney in example is TERRIFIED of drowning, however if he got stabbed? Eh, happens, that’s a part of life. So look at the death that he had and see how that would linger in his mind. Would it make him more anxious? Could it be a source of PTSD? If you do choose to go this route, be sure to do your research to be sure that if he does begin to suffer from some form of mental illness, that you do it justice. (If he already suffers from some form of mental illness, I think it would be VERY important to see how that would collide with the death, what kind of changes it may make. Using Anxiety as an example, would it amplify his anxiety? Would he be more scared of everything? Or would this death be a slap-in-the-face proof to him that he doesn’t need to be so afraid?)
It ALSO could be interesting to see if maybe there could be involuntary changes to him due to the affects of the resurrection ritual. Some DMs don’t have it so you come back right every time. I feel that this post gives some wonderful examples of how you could change as a result of a resurrection ritual.
Overall ask yourself questions. Ask your DM questions. There’s a quote from the lore of a game that I love that goes, “Ask strange questions. Our questions shape the reality that answers them.” The more questions you ask, the more you’ll be able to figure out how he’ll change. Set aside some time, and try and visualize what he’s going through, where he’s been, how he’s thinking about all of this. Work with your DM to get a clearer view of how things are going for him.
I wish you the best of luck with all of this! Feel free to keep me updated on how your character’s doing, I’d love to hear more!
Hate to break it to you, but infinity war is no longer 2 parts. They decided to just make it one movie.
Ah yea true it’s not officially getting a ‘part 1′ or ‘part 2′ title, but There’s still going to be an Avengers 4 movie and I’m pretty sure they’re filming back to back with them. Even though it’s not going to be formally called ‘infinity war part 2′ the story line will most likely be a direct continuation of this movie. So there’s no guarantee that every single character they’ve shown in promotional material so far will get a decent sized role in this movie. Instead certain characters importance may change by the time Avengers 4 comes out.
I don't know how much you actually care. But the assassins creed movie s actually halfway decent. The first half was really good. But the second was very rushed and not nearly as well written.

He was #1! (#1 song)
Fun fact, this song apparently fits really well to the demon who’s half posessing my d&d PC. I guess thats why i listened to it so much
My Ordinary Life - The Living Tombstone
Send me a number 1 - 100 and i’ll tell you what song that is from my most listened to songs of 2018!
Good luck with your session! Any quick tips for doing school and dming? I'm trying to start doing again but last time school got in the way.
Thanks! The campaign went really well, though i did not intend on just how chaotic neutral one of the PCs was.
And hmm, for school and DMing… honestly, its not easy? Here are my two ideas (aka things i’ve done)• Try taking an entire summer to plan• Use a pre-planned campaign as a guideline, but change up basically every NPC and make it a story you want to tell while still keeping encounters/maps.
Its basically, think a lot ahead of time vs let most of the thinking be done for you
I think you'd be either a human or elf wizard of some sort.
Fuck yeah, wizards rock
5, 14 for dice ask thing?
sweet i was hoping to get five!!
5: Luckiest Dice?I have this set of transparent elven dice with blue writing that I got for my PC tahlia. Up to that point, i had shit luck with dice, but this set pretty consistently has rolled very well for me. They’re really pretty too! But i use them exclusively for my PC, not for DMing or anything.
14: What are your dream/holy grail dice?Shit i haven’t thought about this one much. Honestly, if i could get some like. Black dice that were kinda sparkly and glowed slightly in the dark so that it looks kinda like space that’d be cool? I really love space. One of my best friends, and a player if mine made me a dice bag that’s universe themed, and it’s super fuckin cool.
