Ten years ago, I saw #AmericanIdiot on Broadway during their final preview. I'd only just arrived in New York. I first heard about the show because one of my favorite actors, Stark Sands, was cast as one of the leads. Little did I know that this show will introduce me to so many wonderful people and many, many incredible experiences. • I ended up seeing this show 21 times on #Broadway and 6 here in LA on their first National Tour. 27 times. (And their live taping at America's Got Talent!) And I loved every single time. • Fast-forward 10 years. I'm still friends with some of the people I met through this show, or at least still in contact with them. I still see shows multiple times lol. And I guess... I still hit the ground running (hey!) when I include seeing shows during my trips. I waited 12 years for this & I never thought I'd get it & I don't have the words. I was supposed to be in an assigned seat behind a sea of people, which I've never had to do at a show, but I came here with the full intention & expectation that I would get into GA somehow & get to the front. Security was not very scrupulous, I managed to keep the row/seat scrolled out of view on my mobile ticket, they weren't used to seeing those because everyone else printed theirs, & they gave me the pit wristband without hesitation. #UNFUCKWITHABLE @greenday played I think more old stuff than new stuff - they played the whole last half of my life back to me for 2.5 solid hours. Combined with @korn_official in this same city a year & a half ago, I'm closer to feeling every song live that I had written on my binders in high school than I ever expected. They played Jesus of Suburbia. My fucking song. I don't like to ever admit emoting but I'm ngl, I felt a feel & facial leakage occurred at the end of that one (& consequently into the next) because everything it expressed for me in high school came back plus everything it now expresses with what I've been through in the past year.
