it was a contingency in place –– should everything go wrong, a safe bunker to regroup in, one incredibly unlikely to be found upon by pure chance. aiya would not have had any qualms about waiting for the others there under normal circumstances... but that was thirty years in the future. it was a slim chance. after running into rey, though, realizing that she was not the only one here and now, it was one worth taking. better than being alone. they’d arrived here a day ago, hair a little wilder than usual and bags under their eyes. they had barely slept since they’d woken up in the past.

sitting on the floor, feet flat and back against the wall, finally was aiya met with a familiar presence. she didn’t stand up immediately, taking a deep breath. it has to be one of them. her head tipped back against the wall, their eyes shut. "are you as confused as i am?”

----- CLOSED STARTER ! [ aurora & kylo. ]

a twitching and slender body jerked aurora awake, beads of sweat dripping down the blonde’s forehead. raising a lithe hand, she wiped the moisture away. it was unlike her body to react in such a way to a nightmare, even stranger was the frequency with which they were suddenly occurring. not that a single one made sense --- they were mangled imagery including archaic spinning wheels, fairies, and dragons. it blurred and somehow left her unnerved when she rose. 

when erratic breathing steadied, dark blonde brows rose at the stirring of sound outside of her and kylo’s apartment and aurora pushed herself up onto her elbows. banging, popping, even the high pitched caterwaul of a scream entered her ears and instantly she was rolling just enough to shake kylo awake. 

“----- POOHBEAR, WAKE UP ! i think something is going on outside..,” her voice shook with nervousness, a hand instinctively moving to her stomach. without permission, hairs began to rise on the back of her neck as an overwhelming sense of unease settled over her.

-------------- CLOSED STARTER ! [ kyrora. ]

a hum sounded from between rosy lips, slender fingers curled and perched on willowy hips. the bedroom closet was slowly beginning to shape up once again and she couldn’t help a soft chuckle to herself at the state kylo had managed to let it fall into. it seemed as if the empty hangers that swung on the metal bar hadn’t been used since the day she left, clothes piled haphazardly onto the floor so that the door hardly shut. the blonde had managed a great deal of the clutter, hardwood finally beginning to gain visibility once more. piles of clothes were arranged neatly across the king-sized bed --- organized into ‘keep’, ‘store’, and ‘give away’ heaps. she’d certainly be bringing kylo in to approve before actually handing anything over. the blonde had brought over a few boxes of her own clothes to hang alongside his, knowing that half the closet would be a solid black block of garments, the other pastel and patterned. 

dropping to her knees in front of the rest of the mess, hands reached for what appeared to be several shirts and a few pairs of jeans that had somehow gotten impossibly tangled together and pressed against the back wall. fingers curled into the fabric and pulled it back, a small black box falling to the floor --- this would have gone unnoticed had it not hit a patch of flooring and made a sound of skidding. leaning in a bit more, she picked it up. a moment of hesitation was given, the box sitting squarely in her palm. a part of aurora knew that this could be an invasion of privacy, but most of her was too curious to let that hold her back. flipping the lid open, her vision went spotty and a rabbit heart bounded inside of her chest at the sparkling diamond ring that was held there. it took a moment for her to regain her composure before instantly standing and walking to where kylo stood, repainting one of their rooms desperate for a fresh coat. 

“ ----- UHM.. POOHBEAR,” the blonde paused, ring box closed and clutched in a shaking hand. “i need to ASK you something. “

anakin looked into the distance, the waters of naboo created an almost hazy look in the strong midday heat. well strong for this planet. “I can understand that.” he leaned on the stone banister and his mind drifted to meetings here relaxing with his wife. “growing up how I did... I understand that more than you probably realize.” and he did. anakin hated gardulla and watto. palpatine. the jedi for various things though he was learning in some unexpected ways they were just as mixed up as anakin had been.

that damn jedi had gotten inside of her head. depa. the power and grace that she possessed, the fact that she knew the darkness as well as she knew the light. aiya was not sure what about her had managed to get so deep inside of her head and it was unsettling. there were exceptionally few things that actually got beneath their skin. this change in time had not particularly rattled her, but this had. compiled with their recent run-in with a face that they both knew, they did not feel like theirself.

“have you seen him yet?” aiya’s arms folded in front of their ribcage, pacing. “skywalker?”

"you think i’m some kind of monster, don’t you?"

“i don’t know you well enough to make that kind of judgment.”  it was the answer of a true politician: not quite an answer to his question at all.  her hands folded in front of her stomach, standing as tall as she was capable of despite having to lift her chin quite a bit to meet his gaze.  “but i’ve learned that even when people make horrific choices, that doesn’t mean they didn’t have... a reason that, at the time, made it seem like the best thing they could do, or the only thing they could do.”

the easygoing laugh that iden let out in response nearly offered a contradiction to his words “the empire cannot allow any leniency now more than ever. serving its purpose requires a degree of harshness.”

"you think i’m some kind of monster, don’t you?"

“ no. ” the answer fell out of her lips without a second thought, and leia frowned at herself. she stared at the man for a couple seconds, trying to pick out what looked so familiar about him. “ i’ve met my fair share of monsters, and so far you don’t seem that dangerous. ” she obviously didn’t trust him, but odd feelings aside, he was a stranger. someone that could be good or bad. “ unless you’ve got a death star hidden in your sleeve. ”
