Seven Days - Day 1: Boys are Fun
------------------
Summary: You and your friends plan one final celebration before graduation, but little do you know how surprising this week will truly be...
a/n: I am so back, I missed writing long things, I'm writing part 2 as we speak!!!! -------------------
Seven days until it was all over, graduation would come, and this would be the last time you saw your friends for who knows how long. You wanted to make it count, you all schemed together to take this week to have one big party. No stressing about what would come next, where you all would end up, just one week to be together and enjoy each other’s company. The five of you sat in the car, you and Jean in the front, Sasha, Connie, and Marco in the back. Behind you followed two more cars full of your friends, and others they invited to tag along. You arrived at the neighboring houses, sharing a fenced-in pool, with corresponding paths on either side that led to the beach behind. It was the ideal summer destination; you were lucky you found it, especially during this week.
“We’re finally here,” you exclaimed, jumping out of the car, feeling the breeze hit your hair, the sun on your face, the perfect getaway.
“Y/N, this is amazing,” Sasha said, joining you. Quickly, another car pulled up beside you, more of your friends coming out. You headed inside, welcoming the others, girls in one house, guys in the other, to keep things civilized, as well as less cleaning for you. You and Sasha claimed a bedroom to share, and the others claimed their own. The two of you began unpacking when the loud splashing of water interrupted the two of you. You moved to the window, seeing Connie and Jean already splashing around with a few others, and you covered your face, laughing.
“Look at them,” you smiled. Sasha joined you, looking out the window.
“Come on, let’s put on our suits.” She elbowed you, but you couldn’t help but keep looking at how much fun they were having, while you still hadn’t gotten comfortable with the idea of destressing, a different feeling was on your mind, the stress of not seeing them again, of something happening this trip.
“Y/N?” she said, appearing behind you, already changed. You shook your head, snapping out of your thoughts, and changed. The two of you headed outside, towels in hand, claiming two of the chairs next to your friends. You slid on your sunglasses, joining in whatever gossip was being discussed, the whereabouts of Eren and Mikasa in this moment that you weren’t really interested in, because ew. Your eyes scanned the pool under your sunglasses, and you couldn’t help but blush at all the toned bodies moving around in the water, beginning with Jean. His arms lay across the edge of the pool, talking to Marco and Connie, splashing them with his feet, rolling his eyes, when his eyes met you, a smirk met his face, his mouth slightly open before quickly turning away. You, in a bathing suit, was a new sight for him, considering most of your time together was spent in a dorm or at the library. He was out of his usual unspoken uniform as well. This wasn’t a completely unfamiliar sight to you, but the way the sun caught his features made him look better than he already looked. Your eyes moved to Marco next, his hand pushing back his damp black hair. He was waving at you from the side, signalling you to join. You shook your head,
“Not yet,” you called out. The warm freckles on his face coated his chest as well, but the poor guy was already burning, making his freckles fade, which Connie took advantage of, slapping his red shoulders quickly, which reminded you of applying sunscreen for yourself. You fiddled through your bag, finding the spray and applying it quickly, shutting your eyes as you sprayed your face. You coughed, waving your hand in the air, before retaking your seat.
“He’s staring,” Sasha whispered in your ear.
“Who?” You played dumb; you already had an idea of who. She nodded towards the pool. You looked over, seeing Jean still eyeing you, but you looked up at the figure standing at the edge behind him, who was eyeing you too.
“I guess both of them,” she laughed, “geez, Y/N,” she said, applying sunscreen herself. Your eyes, still hidden under your sunglasses, gave you the chance to look at your other admirer, who was making his way over to you. Reiner, your Moms were friends, but the two of you did not interact until you came to college, and your parents were insistent on you two being in touch as someone to look out for one another. You thought you would dread having this random guy come check on you from time to time, but honestly, he was some of the best company you could ask for. You two studied together, walked you home at night if necessary, and genuinely became one of your favorite people to talk to. He was always there when you needed him, and he quickly fell into your friend group, and you fell into his as well. It all worked smoothly. You looked at Sasha, then back at him, standing up as he approached.
“You really know how to plan a trip,” he smiled, running his fingers through his blond hair.
“Well, I couldn’t have done it without you,” you elbowed him. The two of you moved to the side of the pool, talking about graduation, how your mom would cry, as the two of you walked the stage, laughing, then delving into more serious matters, making you trail off.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have-” he started.
“No, it’s fine, it’s normal to talk about, I just, well, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” you sighed.
“Well then, let’s take your mind off it,” he quickly shoved you into the pool. You could hear him laughing from under the water, Connie joining him as he jumped in after you. You barely resurfaced when you were hit with another wave of water, and you began to cough, trying not to swallow all the chlorine in your mouth.
“Chill, chill,” you heard Jean yell as he made his way over to you.
“I’m fine,” you coughed once more. His hand rested on your back under the water; you knew it wasn’t the water temperature giving you chills right now, running his thumb back and forth.
“You sure?” he was shooting the two a glare who were still laughing.
“Yes, if I weren’t, I wouldn’t do this,” you turned off in a fury, proceeding to splash the two, wrapping your arm around Connie’s neck, trying your hardest to pull him under.
“Hey, hey, I didn’t start this,” he shouted as your tactic was working. Within a few seconds, you were pulled off him.
“Alright, crazy, take it easy,” Reiner laughed. He had you in his grasp; you flailed around, kicking, splashing until he let you go.
“This isn’t over,” you smirked, swimming away back towards Jean, who clearly had the look of jealousy painted across his face. His eyes narrowed on Reiner and Connie, his arms crossed, but the tension released as you got closer.
“Dumbasses,” he rolled his eyes, a smile creeping on his face in his jealous state.
“Want to help me get payback?” you grinned.
“What do you have in mind?” He smirked. You slowly pushed him down, making your way onto his back before sliding onto his shoulders. He gripped your calves tightly, a way of possession, that no matter what happened, you were his in this moment. You felt flushed; this faint gesture was turning your stomach in exciting knots. The feeling of you on him was making his knees weak, not because you were heavy, but because he had imagined the feel of you on him so many times before.
“Too heavy?” you asked as he trudged slowly through the water.
“Calling me weak?” He laughed, and the other two joined in your same position.
“I just don’t want to have picked the losing teammate,” you laughed. He glanced up at you, muttering something under his breath. The fight was on, you pushed and shoved, Connie wouldn’t budge, Jean wobbling beneath you, you felt yourself slipping off until it was too late, the two of you had lost, the fight wasn’t fair to begin with, but you at least thought you had a chance. That was the end of your time in the pool for the day. You had your fun, making your way back to Sasha, who had gotten splashed from the aftermath of your fight.
“Y/N,” she had her eyebrows raised, and a smirk you wanted to slap off her face. The two of you headed down to the beach to walk and talk.
“Not a word, Sasha,” you raised a finger.
“It’s been three months since-”
“SASHA!” you scolded.
“Maybe it’s time to move on,” she said. Three months after you had broken up, your friends were too protective; they didn’t like your ex from the start, but none of them told you, not until they caught him cheating, mistreating you, and other items of that nature, all reacting in the same way, pure hatred and rage. You knew she was right, but you were too scared of getting hurt again, and even worse, ruining what you had going on with your friends.
“I’ll think about it,” you sighed.
“You have two very suitable candidates already,” she grinned.
“Don’t even start,” you said. The two of you strayed further and further from the house, continuing this dreadful conversation.
“I already told you Jean liked you after you scolded him,” she continued, “but you didn’t believe me.” She went on and on about how blind you were, playing off flirting as playful banter between friends rather than what it really was. You didn’t tell her about his hand on your back in the pool; that would send her into a frenzy.
“I don’t know,” the two of you turned around on your walk as the sun began to go down, and she was incredibly hungry at this point.
“Well then, what about Reiner?” You couldn’t lie when you asked, you thought about it multiple times, and the pressure from your family was certainly there; they loved him, your mom already telling him he will make a great son-in-law to someone one day.
“I can’t,” you rubbed your head.
“Well, why not, if you won’t pick Jean?” She prodded.
“You’re not helping,” you groaned, but continued anyway, “I would like to make my own decision on Reiner, if I did choose him, the voice of my mom would ring in the back of my head for the rest of my life.” Growing up with strict parents brought you two closer together once you began to know each other, bonding over stupid decisions you both made that would send your families into a fit, but every time you were with him, your Mom’s voice haunted you in the back of your mind.
“She would approve, though, she would be thrilled,” she said.
“That’s the problem,” you sighed. You were approaching the house quickly, and you shut the conversation down as quickly as possible when you smelled something wonderful. You went back up through the pool gate, where everyone was sitting with plates.
“You were gone a while,” Connie smirked, “hopefully there’s enough left.” Sasha ran over to the array of food, immediately filling a plate and sneaking bites as she grabbed more. You tried your best to get enough, finding an empty seat next to Reiner, how convenient, Sasha was eyeing you suggestively, a look of problem, really? You rolled your eyes at her. All of you sat eating, exchanging some of your favorite memories and filling the two of you in on what you missed while you were gone. You laughed, and the longer you sat, the more you realized Sasha had a point, both boys oogling over you, their features in the glowing orange sky. How could you decide between the two, especially at a time like this?
You went inside that night, showering the day off, and you got caught in your conversation with Sasha, which she picked right back up again once you got in bed. You gave in, late at night was when your mind was the most active, you couldn’t help but express more thoughts, eventually you drifted off to sleep, still thinking about the two.
You were the first awake, the sun was just coming up, and you quickly went outside to look, walking down to the beach where another familiar face sat. You paused before approaching, but he turned to look at you anyway.
“Long time no see,” he said as his eyes returned to the view before him.
